C-Bus Cable for underground

Hide Show

Typically for C-Bus underground cable use it needs to be a Cat5E UTP cable with the similar characteristics / impedance as the C-Bus 5005C305B cable.

If you use an underground CAT5E  data cable from brands such as belden or garland etc

We would recommend you ask the supplier to provide confirmation they can provide a CAT5E UTP underground equivalent cable  Gel filled.

Do not use shielded cabling.

Wiser2 apps Security Update notice

Hide Show
A security update notice will come up like the image below. This is a Wiser2 apps Security Update notice.

1 apps show up with notification

Dear SpaceLogic C-Bus Community,

We want to notify you about a critical security update for the Wiser 2 app. This update will affect users as the app will no longer support the unsecured Remote Connection feature, which allows connection to the mobile app from outside the home.

Users of the Wiser 2 app will receive a push notification about this update in early January 2024, and the new app with the security update will be available for download in February 2024.

This update impacts Wiser 1, Wiser 1.5, Wiser MK II, and SpaceLogic C-Bus Home Controller users, with actions varying depending on the controller installed in the system.

The push notification that will be sent to Wiser 2 app users in early January, will guide them to a non-indexable web page for details based on the controller they have in their installations. Please refer to the following link for more information:

https://www.clipsal.com/wiser-customer-support/wiser-c-bus-security-update

We kindly request that you disseminate this information to your customer support teams.

Thank you,

Where to download the SpaceLogic C-Bus Commission V2.2.0?
Release Date: 02/04/2024
Version: V2.2.0
Reference: C-Bus-Commission_V2.2.0
C-Gate: 3.3.0 (build 1825)
Operating systems: Windows 11 Professional (64-bit), Windows 10 Professional (64-bit), Windows 10 Enterprise (64-bit), Windows 10.

What’s New
• Dimmer conversion will add default channel name
When converting older LE dimmers DIMDN4 or DIMDN8 (L5504D2A or L5508D1A) to the new digital dimmers DIMDD4 (5504D2D) and DIMDD8 (5508D1D), the software will now automatically insert a default channel name per channel.

• Network Summary for a C-Bus Network
The C-Bus Network node will show the summary of network information and status including the C-Bus Current supplied and consumed values plus the network impedance value. This data is only taking the project devices into consideration (not the live network devices).

• View the in-built C-Bus power supply status of C-Bus Digital Dimmers on the live network
An icon has been added to the Status column in the Network Devices section of the C-Bus Devices workspace indicating whether the in-built C-Bus Power Supply for the new C-Bus Digital Dimmer (DIMDD4 and DIMDD8) is enabled or disabled.

Fixes
• Project conversion issues. The software will now show correctly when a project has truly failed to convert. Issue with projects in “Waiting” resolved.
• Multiple confirmation dialogues when delete a device in project.
• When transferring to a C-Bus Automation Controller and C-Bus Application Controller, updating a Tag Map name will create an Object if one does not exist, this can result in additional objects created in controller that were not defined in the Object List. Note, this release of SpaceLogic C-Bus Commission software is only compatible with the C-Bus Automation Controller and C-Bus Application Controller firmware version 1.16.0 (when using the Controller Sync function).
• Warn Before Off Enable Group in live network Digital Dimmer is blank and not auto created during a network scan.
• Network burden property of Digital Dimmers did not update the C-Bus summary data (not included in network calculator).

Known Issues
• A slight delay may be seen when switching views back and forth between the Measurement and Error applications where a large amount of data (150 items or more) exists.
• Clicking on the Main Menu repeatedly will result in a decrease in software performance. C-BUS COMMISSION RELEASE NOTES 2
• Switching projects 10 or more times will result in a decrease in software performance.
• Measurement application values presented from the live network may not appear truncated and rounded to reasonable decimal places.

How to change a wrong USB Driver on DCCABKIT6

Hide Show

Suppose the following happens when connecting the DCCABKIT6 cable between Laptop and DALIcontrol Duo Mode 3 Power Supply (DCDALCIP250-2).

In Device Manager find something like

1

The cable has likely been used with some other product that has recognised the FDTI chip and installed this LibUSB driver which is not recognised by the Simple Wizard which sees a different device ID

BEFORE GOING FURTHER REALISE THAT ONCE COMPLETE THE OTHER DEVICE WILL NO LONGER FIND ITS REQUIRED DRIVER.

Right click on this entry in the Device Manager and select Properties from the menu

2

And proceed to the Driver tab

 3

…and select <Update Driver>

 4

… and Select <Browse my computer for Drivers>

 5

Select <Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer>

With this next Dialog un-tick the Show compatible hardware

 6

In this case you should see Manufacturer FTDI and Select from the Model USB Serial Port which should start the install finishing with…

 7

From here you should now be able to connect.

It is important to note that when connecting to the DALIcontrol Duo Mode 3 Power Supply (DCDALCIP250-2) with the DCCABKIT6 programming cable and running DCBMWizard or SimpleWizard that the power supply be in mode 1. To achieve this on the DCDALCIP250-2 press and hold the <ON A> button and momentarily press the <TEST A> button. The Line A indicator will single pulse 5x to indicate the mode.

If there is a compatible driver installed you can try tick Show Compatible hardware, then try selecting one of the drivers below.

8

If there are no drivers to be found on the Computer in question it is then possible to download the software by going to the following on  your web browser https://support.arduino.cc/hc/en-us/articles/4411305694610-Install-or-update-FTDI-drivers and follow the instructions laid out.

How is an Altivar VFD set to always run a particular speed when no reference input is connected?

Hide Show
Issue:
Wants the Altivar VFD set to always run at a particular speed when no reference input is connected.

Product Line:
Altivar 12, 32, 312, 61, 71, 212, 320

Environment:
All models

Cause:
VFD does not run the motor without a speed reference.

Resolution:
If there is no external speed reference when the VFD gets a run command, then it will always run at the minimum speed programmed to the VFD.  Set the minimum speed parameter to the desired run speed.  Use parameter LSP for the Altivar12, 32, 312, 320, 61, 71 drives.  Use parameter LL for the Altivar 212 drive.  These can be adjusted while the motor is running.
