Although smoke alarms are essential for home safety, they can be prone to false alarms in areas like garages, laundries and pantries, where dust, steam and fumes are common. In these environments, the NCC allows the use of heat alarms, which provide a smarter solution by detecting rapid increases in temperature instead of airborne particles, so your home stays protected without false alarming.
The new Clipsal Fire Tek® Heat Alarm is compatible with our existing Smoke Alarm installation bases, offers wireless connection to other Clipsal Smoke Alarms, and comes with a 10-year lithium battery backup (230V Battery powered).

Versatile and Interconnected: Wiser Smoke Alarms
Interconnecting with existing wireless Fire Tek® smoke alarms, the Wiser Smart Smoke alarm comes in two varieties; either as battery powered or a 240V hardwired unit. It also comes in two shapes: round and square. It can also be used separately or as part of the Wiser Smart Home system.
The Wiser by SE app provides push notification alerts if smoke is detected as well as an optional test reminder alert and battery status indicator.
Automations can also be programmed in the Wiser by SE app to trigger lights to come on or flash for faster warning if smoke is detected.

Smoke Alarm Maintenance
Smoke alarm maintenance is important
Every Month
Test your smoke alarm using the test/hush button and check the batteries with mains power switched off. Clean the alarm by removing dust and insects.
Every three months
Vacuum your smoke alarm. Spray insect repellent on a cloth and wipe the ceiling around the smoke alarm. Test the smoke alarm after cleaning.
Every Year
Replace the back-up battery annually. Choose a recurring date that’s easy to remember (birthdays, end/start of daylight saving).
Every 10 Years
All smoke alarms have a limited service life of 10 years. After that period, the entire smoke alarm unit must be replaced with a new one.
