          170LNT71000 Devicenet Communication Adapter Exec Upgrade to v.1.41

          Release Notice

          The purpose of this Resolution is to inform 170LNT71000 Devicenet Communication Adapter users that the Exec has been upgraded to version 1.41.

          Goals and Symptoms

          Version 1.41 firmware resolves the following 170LNT71000 issues:

          • 1) When operating in 'Polled Mode' and mounted on discrete input bases only, 170LNT71000 Devicenet Comm Adapters would drop off the network every 10 seconds. The adapters would remain off the network for approximately 0.5 second then recover on its own.

            2) The input data from a bidirectional module will freeze at their last value if an output fault (ie. shorted output) occurs. The user would have to remove the fault to continue to read inputs correctly.

            3) If bi-directional modules are configured for polled & strobed modes, their outputs would remain in their last state if:
            • the communications cable is removed from the adapter,
            • the PLC is stopped, or
            • the fieldbus power is turned off.

          Causes and Fixes

          The 170LNT71000 firmware is NOT field upgradable.

          Version 3.3 has incorporated 6 changes in the firmware to improve the operations of the NOE.

          Facts and Changes

          1.A new and improved Timeout and Retry Transmission algorithm has been added to the I/Oscanner client. If the connection to a device is disturbed, the retransmission requests are now sent
          to the device with adaptive timing and instead of with fixed timing.
          2. An error was corrected in the calculation of the Keep alive checksum.
          3. Change server retransmission retry time from 1.2 seconds to .5msec
          4 . Priority of the IPconfig task was increased from 100 to 35. This allows the gateway to be configured before the NOE can accept requests from other devices.
          5. The I/O scanner now support routers. This allows I/O scanning over different network domains that are linked by a network router (maximum TTL of 10).
          6. Changed Modbus server to implement a fast retransmission algorithm This upgrade can be downloaded directly to v3.0 units. Modules with lower versions must be upgraded to V3.0 before going to V3.3

          Is there a mechanical interlock for the LC1DT range of contactors?

          No, there is no interlock available specifically for the LC1DT contactors.

          The mechanical interlock that comes with the 3 pole reversing kit LAD9R1V will fit, although the power interlock and reverse wiring included in this kit will not be compatible.

          GV2 Adapter Plate Mounting

          Two lock elements come with LAD311. The first one, already mounted on LAD311 when delivered is suitable for almost all cases of LC1D contactor. However, depending on the type of coil of the contactor (DC or AC), this element shall be mounted in one position for DC or turned by 180° around an horizontal axis for AC coil contactor. Note that on the lateral face of this elements the markings “DC” or “AC” mounted upwards indicates the right position to be used. The second LAD311 lock element shall be used when mounting contactors LC1D09 to LC1D18 with screw clamp. In this case, this element shall be mounted on LAD311 instead of the first one which can be scrapped away.

          You only need to calculate the Zero Scale and Full Scale values if your meter’s analog output port has a different range than the sensor connected to it; for example if your meter has a 0 - 20 mA range and the sensor reading the analog output port expects values in the 4 - 20 mA range. You can calculate the Full Scale and Zero Scale values by analyzing the system. The relationship between the Source input and the Normalized output is linear, so a graph can represent the six points used to produce the operation:

          Calculation Example
          The meter is monitoring a 0 to 120 kW system. The receiving device can read a signal from 4 - 20 mA and your meter’s analog hardware output port has a 0 to 20 mA range. The Full Scale and Zero Scale registers need to be set up to scale the output accordingly. The variables for the module operation are:

           Full Scale = 120 kW
           X = 0 kW
           Af = 20 mA
           Ax = 0 mA
           Aa = 4 mA

          Solve for Zero Scale:

          The Analog Output module setup registers are programmed as follows:
           Full Scale = 120 kW
           Zero Scale = -30 kW
          This will produce a 0 to 120 kW output represented by a 4 to 20 mA signal.

          After connecting to your meter in ION Setup, open setup assistant and navigate to Analog Out and choose which output you want to configure.
          You can configure the Source, Zero Scale, Full Scale, and port to use for that Analog Output as below:


          ETSNZ - Can Tesys F range contactors be used in safety applications?

          According to IEC60947-4-1 appendix F, mirror contact is one of the means necessary to ensure safety for contactors
          (in the standard "...mirror contact should not be relied upon exclusively as a means to ensure safety..." ).

          TeSys F contactors do not include internal mirror contacts. So we, Schneider, do not actively promote TeSys F as a contactor for safety applications.
          However, TeSys F can be fitted with auxiliary contacts add-on blocks. For some of these blocks LADN01, LADN02, LADN04, LADN11, LADN22, LADN31 and LADN13, a NC auxiliary contact has been recognised by VDE as mirror contact. This allows to use TeSys F in safety applications.
          Attached are the VDE Certificates recognising the NC auxiliary contact with the blocks mentioned above as mirror contact.

          To sum up and give clear answers to TeSys F and safety applications ;
          1. If Tesys F contactor can be used for safety applications?

          Yes, it can be used if, this is mandatory, it is fitted with one the above mentioned add-on blocks. VDE Certificate recognising the auxiliary contact as mirror can be provided.

          2. When asked, can we answer that Tesys F have mirror contact, provided by auxiliary contact blocks?

          There are no plans for a general release of the Compact NSX breaker line in North America, since the NSX is not UL Listed to UL489. (UL 489 is the standard commonly required in the US.)
