        This video will show you how to remove and clean clogged drain lines and clogged condensate pumps on an ACSC100 unit.  Ensue the unit is powered off then unplug the unit from power.  When using compressed air please ensure safety glasses are used.  Will also need to create a seal to slightly pressurize the line.

        Resolution:
        The reason that the circuit breaker does not trip is expressed in the time/current curve that are unique properties of circuit breakers or fuses. For example a typical Square ""D"" ""NQ"" breaker rated at 20 amps might trip after 300 seconds of a 20 amp load, but will pass considerably more than 56 amps at 200ms of time.

        ACSC Compressor Not Turning On

        Resolution:
        With an ACSC100 set for spot/discrete mode, please check the system pressure. Please note standing pressure of R410a @ 70 degrees is approx. 201 psi. Therefore, if the standing psig reading on the unit is 41 psi, for example, refrigerant obviously fractionated to be at 41 psi. Per the unit’s firmware if the pressure is below 90 psi the unit will not start compressors, nor annunciate any alarms to the contrary. A couple of things that will keep the SC compressor from starting are:
        If the Suction Pressure is below 92psi then the compressor will not start, and there are no alarms reported on this.

        If the pressure difference between the suction and discharge pressure is above 7psi then the compressor will not start, and no alarms are reported. The unit will log an event that reads "Startup Line Pressure Imbalance.""

        All of the InRow products come with a factory-installed condensate pump piped internally to the condensate pan. Each pump has different specifications.  If needed, more details can be found in the technical manual as well.

        InRow ACSC100, ACSC101, ACRD100, ACRD200, ACRC100, ACRC103
        Pacific Electronic: Capable of pumping 1.3 GPH (5 L/h)
        InRow SC, RD (300mm):
        • Charles Austen Pump - Capable of pumping 13.5 GPH (51 L/h) liquid a maximum distance of  65ft (20m) , which may include a maximum lift of 20 ft (7 m).*
        • Pacific Electronic - Capable of pumping 1.3 GPH (5 L/h) liquid a maximum distance of  50 ft (15.2 m), which may include a maximum lift of 16 ft (4.9 m).
        NOTE: Dual floats are included with the unit. One float is used for condensate pump control, the other to generate condensate pan overflow alarms.

        Cause:
        This bulletin will identify various situations that can cause the Leakage Current Detection and Interrupter (LCDI) cord to trip on the ACSC100.   

        Resolution:     

        The ACSC100 ships with an LCDI cord that has an outer shield around the line and neutral conductors of the cord. If the cord is damaged such that the line or neutral conductor shorts to this shield, the cord will trip. The cord also contains a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) that monitors the current flow between the line and neutral conductors. If there is an imbalance of current flow between the two conductors the cord will trip. The cord is designed to trip on an imbalance in the 4-6mA current range. In the event of a tripped cord, the below items need to be verified:  

        • Verify that the cord has not been physically damaged. If damage is found, destroy the cord and replace it with a new cord, part number W960-0126.  

        • Verify that there are no phase-to-ground shorts within the ACSC (requires certified trained personnel to inspect the ACSC). If a short is present, make necessary repairs before re-applying power to the ACSC.  

        • Verify that the cord does not trip when connected to the branch circuit, but disconnected from ACSC. If this occurs there may be an issue with the branch circuit wiring, such as a phase reversed with the ground connection. This situation may require a licensed electrician to examine the branch circuit for possible problems.  

        If any of the above symptoms are not causing the cord to trip, it is possible that nuisance tripping is occurring due to normal electrical characteristics commonly found in information technology equipment power modules/supplies within the wiring closets/data centers, or on the same electrical supply panel. Normal electrical characteristics include harmonics that are induced from the power modules/supplies.

        If it is believed that nuisance tripping is the main cause of the cord fault, please review APC’s position below. 

        To Whom It May Concern:

        The APC InRow SC Model ACSC100 is supplied with a cord set that includes a Leakage Current Detector and Interrupter (LCDI). The National Electrical Code (NEC) article 440.65 requires either an LCDI or an Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) for plug connected room air conditioners. However, this requirement is based on the assumption that the air conditioner is for seasonal use. The 2005 NEC Handbook article 440.65 provides the rationale for the code.

        “Generally, portable room air conditioners are used only on a seasonal basis and are removed and stored at the end of the cooling season. During the life of a room air conditioner, the installation and removal occurs many times, and there is an increased likelihood of a damaged cord as a result of the unit being set on the cord or pushed against it. To provide enhanced protection against fires initiated by damaged supply cords, all single-phase cord-and-plug connected room air conditioners are required to be equipped with either leakage current detection and interruption protection or arc-fault circuit interrupter protection.”

        The InRow SC is used in a fixed location. It is used in continuous operation, and as such is not the subject of the intention of the electrical code. The cord of the InRow SC is no more subject to damage than the cords of the other Information Technology Equipment (ITE) devices used in the same area. The electrical code does not require an AFCI or LCDI for ITE based on the intended use. The LCDI cord set is required when the InRow SC is used as a portable unit used on a temporary basis as described in the code handbook. If the user determines that the LCDI cord set is not required by the local code, cord AP9871 without the LCDI may be substituted.

        •         Active Flow Control

        -          The active flow controller was designed for various mounting methods in the door header, in a duct or mounted in a U space of the rack.

        -          The active flow controller monitors the airflow balance between the cooling system and the IT equipment.  It senses the airflow in the contained aisle and sends a control signal to the cooling equipment to vary the fan speed to match the airflow that the server is producing.

        -          The controller has 3 LED rings that will change colors based on differing airflows.  If the cooling unit is providing excess airflow the light color will change to blue.  If the cooling unit is not providing enough airflow the light color will change to red.  If the cooling unit is providing  the right amount of airflow the light color will change to Green.

        -          This option is only available with the ACRC100 series as well as the EcoBreeze unit at the time of release.  The other products will have the firmware modified to allow compatibility at a future date.
