Protection against fire is top priority when it comes to building safe homes for your clients, especially with stricter regulations and growing public awareness on fire safety. Clipsal’s latest Smoke and Heat Alarms range provides a complete smoke alarm solution from a trusted brand, helping you deliver outstanding, long-term value for your clients.

Introducing Clipsal’s new Smoke and Heat Alarm solution

The homes you build are so much more than bricks and mortar; they’re where your clients live the life they’ve imagined. Now, you can add greater peace of mind to that experience with the latest in smoke alarm technology and design from Clipsal.

Protection against fire is top of mind for consumers when it comes to keeping themselves, their loved ones, and their most valued assets safe. As life becomes increasingly connected, homes today have many more electrical features and devices plugged in 24/7, increasing the risk of electrical fires, which are among the leading causes of residential house fires in Australia.

Stay a step ahead

Stricter legislation, public campaigns, and advances in smoke alarm technology are all contributing to growing awareness of fire safety.

Individual states are also adding further specific protections to the National Construction Code (NCC) requirement that new homes and major renovations have mains-powered photoelectric interconnected smoke alarms with a battery backup.

Interconnected smoke alarms have been required for new homes since May 2014. In Queensland, it’s now mandatory to have interconnected photoelectric mains-powered smoke alarms in every room for new homes approved after January 2017.

These regulations also apply to rental properties. In NSW, Short Term Rental Accommodations (STRA) are required to have Heat Alarms in certain circumstances. Since January 2022, all rental properties in Queensland must have interconnected smoke alarms powered by either 240V or 10-year lithium batteries installed in bedrooms and hallways. For all other homes, this requirement will take effect in January 2027.

Now, you can stay ahead of the constantly evolving regulations and offer your clients the latest in fire alarm safety for long-term protection.

The complete Smoke Alarm solution

The next-generation Clipsal Smoke and Heat Alarm range provides this reassurance in a complete alarm solution from a trusted brand. It covers smoke and heat detection for every room type and is designed to fit seamlessly into new builds.

The high-quality, robust electronics are designed for reliability, to ensure early detection and warning from hazardous smoke and fire. The range is also fully compliant with all current regulations and engineered for long-term reliability with a 10-year warranty.

Coming soon in September, the two new Clipsal Fire Tek ® 240V smoke alarms are designed to detect smouldering fires (the most common type in homes) and have been updated to offer dual emission smoke chambers, the choice of replaceable battery or 10-year lithium battery back-up, and an improved curved design for a less obtrusive look. They can interconnect with up to 40 alarms.

The upgraded Fire Tek ® Relay Base accessory now has clearer operational markings, and a 10-year lifetime fixed installed battery.

The new Clipsal Heat Alarm

New to the range is a standalone Clipsal Fire Tek ® Heat Alarm, available now. Heat alarms are ideal for detecting fast, flaming fires in areas not suited to smoke alarms, and the NCC allows them in areas such as kitchens and garages where steam, dust or fumes might trigger false alarms. They are an ideal addition to a smoke alarm system for extra security.

The new Fire Tek ® Heat Alarm is compatible with existing Smoke Alarm installation bases and offers wireless connection to the existing Smoke Alarm portfolio. The 230V powered Heat Alarm also has a 10-year lithium battery back-up.
