What is BPFE Function used for in the NT-NW circuit breaker?

Basically, BPFE is an another check point to close the circuit remotely.

With the BPFE option the customer can control the device electrically in order to close it.
When we say "control", it means that if all the safety conditions (part of the customer control/monitoring system of the installation) are enabled, the customer control/monitoring system of the installation will energize the XF through the wiring A3-A1. But at this step is not enough to close the breaker.  The engineer present in front of the device must press the BPFE button in order to close the device, if they consider no visual risk present before closing the device.

Does the NW-BP85-002 require any programming in order to commission the unit?

No. The BP85 does not require any programming. All the user has to do to commission the unit is to set the MB+ address dip switches for both networks and power up the unit.
