Does iEM3000 Series Meter have internal battery?

There are two types of clock behaviours found on iEM3000 meter series.
iEM3110, iEM3210, iEM3150, iEM3250, iEM3310 and iEM3350
These meters lose the clock immediately after the power interruption as there is no super capacitor or battery built-in. When power is interrupted, the date and time are reset and you must enter configuration mode to configure the clock, if you require time information.

iEM3115, iEM3135, iEM3155, iEM3165, iEM3175, iEM3215, iEM3235, iEM3455/iEM3555, iEM3465/iEM3565, iEM3275, iEM3335, iEM3355, iEM3365, iEM3375, iEM3455, iEM3465, iEM3555 and iEM3565
These meters could  keep the clock running for up to 3 days in absence of external power, the meter design uses a built-in super capacitor (not a battery) to power the clock only and keep it running. If power is interrupted for longer than 3 days, the device automatically displays the screen to set Date and Time when power is restored.

Refer to User manual for further information (page 28).

Can the IEM3000 series read energy output from a Solar Panel?

To be able to measure the energy out from a Solar Panel a meter needs to be able to do Four Quadrant Calculation.

This means it is capable of Identification of imported and exported active and reactive energy allows you to monitor energy flow in both directions: delivered from the utility and produced on-site.

In the iEM3000 series the following meters are capable of Four Quadrant Calculation.

iEM31** range - iEM3135, iEM3155, iEM3165, and iEM3175
iEM32** range - iEM3235, iEM3255, iEM3265, and iEM3275
iEM33** range - iEM3335, iEM3355, iEM3365, and iEM3375
iEM34** range - iEM3455, iEM3465, iEM3555, and iEM3565

Which direction the H1 side of MTZ neutral CT (TCE external sensor) to be installed?

Please see below diagram from the MTZ Neutral Current Transformer Instruction Sheet.

image.png

As you can see, H1 is always oriented to the bottom side (of the breaker) and H2 to the top side (of the breaker)
In fact, the CT is always installed in the same way whatever the way the breaker is fed (top or bottom)
.

Please see the below illustrations for better understanding.
image.png

You can install the neutral CT above or below or same level as the breaker, but H1 side of the neutral CT is always facing the direction where the bottom of the breaker is. Please see below.
image.png

The reason for this is that the internal CTs installed inside the beakers, face their H1 side towards the bottom terminals of the breaker. Since, we cannot change the orientation of the internal phase CTs, we have to match the same orientation in the neutral CT as well. i.e. H1 is always oriented to the bottom side (of the breaker) and H2 to the top side (of the breaker)
