In the SMS Setup Utility, go to Setup->Device/Routing and double-click on the CM3/CM4/PM8 meter. Under the "Basic Setup" tab click on the "Advanced" button. On the "EN50160" tab check the "Enable EN50160 Evaluation" box to enable EN50160.
EN50160 alarms cannot be enabled under "Onboard Alarms/Events" tab until "enable EN50160" is checked.

EN50160 alarms cannot be disabled under "Onboard Alarms/Events" tab until "enable EN50160" is unchecked.

Customer see stars or asterisks for frequency on CM3000 or CM4000 front display.

Environment
Reading Frequency from front display on CM3000 or CM4000 meter. 

Resolution
There are several possibilities in which this could occur:

  1. The frequency is changing too quickly. (Possible causes could be when monitoring a Generator that has not stabilized the voltage frequency)
  2. The voltage on phase A and C has dropped to zero. (Normal)
  3. (CM4000 series only) The Current Voltage Module (CVM) module is not properly seated. (NOTE: In this instance cycling control power to the meter will not help.)
  4. (CM4250 Only) This symptom can also be caused by the temperature chip in the meter when the firmware version is earlier than 14.4. To confirm this is the issue read register 3238. If the value is zero, then this may not be the issue. It is recommend that the firmware be upgraded to the latest version available.
  5. If none of these solutions work then use the attached flow chart to validate the issue and contact the appropriate group per the PDF attachment.

Is it possible to have a negative Voltage Unbalance reading from a circuit monitor or a power meter?

No, it is not possible to have negative Voltage Unbalance reading from a Series 800 Power Meter or a Series 3000/4000 Circuit Monitor. All voltage unbalance readings will be an absolute value expressed as a percentage of unbalance. Voltage Unbalance is calculated using the following formula: Vunbalance = [(Vavg-Vphase) divided by Vavg].
It is possible, however, to have negative Voltage Unbalance readings if the device is a Series 600 Power Meter or a Series 2000 Circuit Monitor. These devices express Voltage Unbalance as a positive or negative percentage.

In general the absoute value of any Voltage Unbalance larger than 2.5 can cause heating in motors.

How to Replace the Battery in a 7500 or 7600 Meter

Issue
Battery Low warning in event log. Meter does not retain time when powered off.

Cause
Low battery or battery counter needing to be reset.


Resolution
*Warning: This procedure is intended ONLY for ION 7500 or 7600.  A different procedure may be required for newer ION 7550 and 7650 devices.

*Warning: Installation and maintenance of this device should only be performed by qualified,
competent personnel that have appropriate training and experience with high voltage and current
devices. Failure to follow the instructions / warnings in the Meter Installation Guide can result in
permanent damage to the meter, severe injury or death.


In case of low battery:
Suggested replacement battery is Tadiran Model TL-5276/W or equivalent.

How to change the battery of the ION 75/7600
1.) Equipment needed: long shank philips screw driver, broad slotted screw driver, small zip tie
2.) Open up the meter
      
3.) Remove the screws and grounding screws on the communication card
      
4.) In particular remove the grounding nut
      
5.) Notice the openings that let you push onto the power supply card
      
6.) With the heel of your hand hit the slotted screw driver to pop one side of the power supply card free
      
7.) Now, pop the other side free
8.) The power supply card is now ready to drop out the bottom
      
9.) The battery is held in with a zip tie.  cut the zip tie and remove the old battery
     
10.) Slide in the new zip tie
      
11.) Insert the new battery, tighten the zip tie, and cut off the excess
      
12.) Reassemble the meter

Battery Counter Reset
13.) The battery counter needs to be reset at this point
     a.) Open a DOS command prompt and type telnet <ip.address.of.meter>
     b.) Login = 7500 or 7600 (dependant upon your meter type)
     c.) Password = <front panel password>
     d.) Press 9 <ENTER>
     e.) Type HN <ENTER>
     f.) Cycle power to the meter

Resolution:
The 66061 JBUS/Modbus manual was updated May 2018 to reflect the correct Modbus register for NAM Galaxy 5000 Q1 Breaker status.  The Q1 Modbus register is only monitored on EMEA Galaxy 5000/5500 UPSs.  For NAM Galaxy 5000 customer must monitor KA1 for Q1 Breaker status change.  EMEA UPSs can monitor the KA1 status as well but KA1 is optional on EMEA UPSs.

Video: How to change the accumulated energy in CM4000/CM3000/PM800 series meters from absolute to signed?

Issue
The circuit monitor 3000/4000 series and the Power meter 800 series can accumulate the energy values in one of two modes: signed or absolute.
In signed mode, the meter considers the direction of power flow, allowing the magnitude of accumulated energy to increase and decrease.
In absolute mode, the meter accumulates energy as a positive value, regardless of the direction of power flow. In other words, the energy value increases, even during reverse power flow.
In signed mode, the meter will effectively subtract power that is flowing in the reverse direction from the power that is flowing, or has flowed, in the positive direction resulting in a net power usage.

The default accumulation mode is absolute.

Resolution
To change mode from absolute to signed using front panel, view the following video and the following steps:



Enter the Read/Write menu from the display: From the meter main menu, scroll right to diagnostics, then navigate to read/write registers. It will ask you for your meter password.
If the password is default, press the up arrow button to select 0 and press enter. If password is not default, enter meter's password.
In the read write regs screen press up/down button to go to your desired register. If you keep the arrow button pressed it will start to scroll through registers faster.
To write a value to a register, hit enter when you reach the register and change the value.

1. Write 9020 to register 8000, this places the meter in setup mode.

2. Write 1 to register 3232

3. Write 1 to register 8001, this saves the changes.

4. Write 9021 to register 8000, this exits setup mode and that will initiates a soft reset on the meter.


To change the mode using ION setup, follow these steps or the video below.
1. Connect the meter in ION setup. In Setup mode, Double click the energy and demand option.


2. Change the accumulated energy from absolute to signed and send it to the meter.

How does the Command Code 1120 work on the Series 3000/4000 Circuit Monitor?

Cause
The 1120 command in the CM4000 has historically cleared all memory. This command would clear all configuration registers including basic setup and communications parameters. The command would also clear all data log and alarm setup and all data log data.

This command has been modified and now requires the use of a parameter with the command to clear selected segments of the meter or to clear everything like the original command. This new command is implemented in the CM4000 in firmware versions beginning with 10.204. The following table provides a list of the parameters to clear selected segments of the meters memory.

Resolution
To issue commands using the command interface, follow these general steps:

  1. Write the related parameter(s) to the command parameter registers 8001 through 8015.
  2. Write the command code to the command interface register 8000.

  • The Modicon M340 Programmable Automation Controller is a Mid-range automation system providing small size, yet powerful 32-bit processor for demanding OEM machine and industrial process applications. It is programmed using our cross-platform IEC 61131-3 application development software, Unity Pro (v3.0 or higher). The front panel has a series of LEDs that indicate the status of the M340 processor, SD Memory Card, and system communications.

    Processor Status Displays

    Introduction

    There are several LEDs available on the front panel of each processor, enabling
    rapid diagnosis of the PLC status.

    These LEDs provide information on:


    · PLC functional status
    · The memory card status
    · Communication with the I/O modules
    · Modbus Serial communication
    · Communication on the CANopen network
    · Communication on the Ethernet network

    Searching for Errors Using the Processor Status LEDs

    General

    The status LEDs located on the processor inform the user of the PLCs operating
    mode and any possible errors.
    The errors detected by the PLC concern:

    · circuits which constitute the PLC and/or its modules: internal errors
    · the process driven by the PLC or the process wiring: external errors
    · functioning of the application executed by the PLC: internal or external errors

     

    Error Detection

    Error detection is performed at startup (autotest) or during operation (which is the
    case for most equipment errors), during exchanges with the modules, or during
    execution of a program instruction.
    Certain "serious" errors require the PLC to be restarted while others are left to the
    user to decide how to proceed depending on the level of application required.
    There are three types of error:

    · non-blocking
    · blocking
    · processor or system

    Blocking Errors

    General

    Blocking errors, caused by the application program, do not cause system errors but
    prohibit execution of the program. When such an error occurs, the PLC stops
    immediately and goes into HALT mode (all tasks are stopped on the current
    instruction). The ERR LED flashes.

    Restarting of the Application After a Blocking Error
    To end this status it is necessary to init the PLC or to set the %S0 bit to 1.
    The application is then in an initial state:
    · The data resumes its initial value.
    · Tasks are stopped at end of cycle.
    · The input image is refreshed.
    · Outputs are controlled in fallback position.
    ·
    The RUN command then allows the application to be restarted.

    Blocking Error Diagnosis
    Indication of a blocking error is signaled by the ERR and RUN LEDs flashing on the
    processor front panel.
    The system words %SW126 and %SW127 indicate the address of the instruction
    which caused the blocking error.
    The nature of the error is indicated by the system word %SW125.
    The following table presents the errors signaled by the values of the system word
    %SW125.
     

    M340 Diagnostic information Memory card

    Memory Card Description

    Only Schneider memory cards are compatible with BMX P34 processors.
    Schneider memory cards use Flash technology and do not require a battery. These
    cards can support about 100,000 write/delete cycles (typical).

    The Memory card access LED is located behind the Memory Card Protective Cover.
