Sometimes we would like to test the drives with external 24V power supply when we are not able to install it to the 3-phase mains. Or we suspect the drive may have a failed control block or internal power supply. In below, I listed the expected behavior for ATV600s, and ATV900s when connected to the external 24V power supply. Please note ATV320 may behavior differently.
1. When we connect external power supply (24V) to "P24" port and "0V" / "COM", if the SW1 DIP switch in "SRC" or "SK", the drive will show "NLP", as in "No line power", when measuring, the STOA, STOB are having 24V, when checking IO map from the HMI, STOA and STOB are in high.
2. Same behavior when we connect external power supply (24V) to "24V" port and "COM", when the SW1 DIP switch in "SRC" or "SK", when measuring, the STOA, STOB are having 24V, when checking IO map from the HMI, STOA and STOB are in high.
3. When we connect external power supply (24V) to "P24" port and "0V", meanwhile having the DIP switch SW1 on "EXT", the drive still shows "NLP", when measuring, the STOA, STOB, we do not have 24V, when checking IO map from the HMI, STOA and STOB are in low. If we enable the line power, we will see "STO" as drive status.
4. If the external power is connected to "24V" and COM, the SW1 is on "EXT", the control will not power up. when line power is turned on, the drive will show "RDY", and STOA and STOB are 24V, when checking IO map from the HMI, STOA and STOB are in high.
