When should Harmonic mitigating transformers be used verses K rated transformers?

Resolution:
A K- factor transformer is really an oversized transformer with more copper to protect itself against heating from the harmonics.  A harmonic mitigating transformer is designed more like a zig-zag transformer , which is able to counter the harmonics within the windings. This is more effective in reducing the harmonic distortion. The K-factor will not reduce the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD).
