Issue
When the user tries to access the System Manager Software (SMS) Webclient, the following message is displayed in Internet Explorer:
Internet Explorer Cannot Display The Webpage
or
Page cannot be displayed
The following DCOM error message is displayed in the Windows System Event Log:
The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {A9E69610-B80D-11D0-B9B9-00A0C922E750} to the user NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE SID (S-1-5-20). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.
SMS is installed on a Windows Server 2003 machine.
Browsing to https://localhost/ may give the following error message:
Service Unavailable
Changing the identity on the default app pool allows the user to access https://localhost/ and see a "Under Construction" message
Cause
If Internet Information Services (IIS) isn't installed initially with the operating system and service pack 2 is then applied, installing IIS from the original media will cause IIS not to publish ASP files and consistently throw error messages when asked to build and display a page.
Resolution
Download and re-install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (32-bit x86) from Microsoft.com
