Xpert Electrical & Air, a locally trusted electrical contractor, was engaged to deliver a comprehensive solution that balanced aesthetics, functionality and compliance for Kincraig Hotel.

The electrical refurbishment transformed the hotel into a modern destination, featuring upgraded rooms, a revitalized bistro, commercial kitchens, and multiple bar areas, whilst maintaining the character of the regional landmark.

Clipsal Commercial: Reliable Gear for Hospitality Infrastructures

Power distribution throughout the Kincraig Hotel refurbishment was delivered using Acti9 MB boards designed through FlexSelect. Clipsal MAX9 was also used for sub-boards in individual rooms.

These distribution boards provided a compliant and scalable solution across mixed-use hospitality loads, including commercial kitchen equipment, bar services, HVAC, lighting control and general power. The modular architecture enabled clear functional separation between load groups, improving selectivity and fault isolation to minimise tripping in high-continuity environments like kitchens and bars.

The logical board layout, increased wiring space, and standardised connection methods across Acti9 circuit breakers, RCDs, and RCBOs significantly reduced installation and commissioning time for Xpert Electrical.

The Acti9 MB board delivers ongoing value for service electricians and facility managers. Clear circuit separation supports rapid fault finding and isolation, allowing individual circuits to be taken offline without impacting adjacent services, which is critical in a venue where downtime directly affects revenue.

All switchboards and protective devices were designed and installed in accordance with AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 61439, ensuring correct device coordination, verified fault performance and simplified final certification — delivering a robust, compliant, and future-ready distribution solution for a demanding commercial hospitality environment.

For fit-off, Clipsal Pro Series was used in high-traffic areas as it was made with robust materials and IK08 impact resistance, helping it withstand knocks from trolleys, bar equipment, and maintenance activities.

Smart Control and Seamless Integration with Clipsal Commercial

Kincraig Hotel consulted Xpert Electrical to provide solutions that would enhance their guest experience whilst making the venue more operational for their staff. Clipsal C-Bus was specified through all common areas, allowing lighting scenes and levels to be tailored to different times of the day and service requirements. This provided intuitive control for staff, consistent ambience for patrons, and improved energy management across the venue.

Within rooms, Clipsal Iconic switches and sockets were selected to complement the contemporary design. Integrating USB charging outlets delivered convenience to guest expectations whilst maintaining a refined aesthetic across all rooms.
