                          The EGX series and ECC series of gateways do not require the user to modify the device list as long as all devices are Modbus and not a mix with Powerlogic and jbus. Port 2 of the EGX200 and EGX400 however must have a device list set.

                          The EGX300 has a Device Auto Discovery mode which will go out and determine which devices are on the chain for the user and auto-populate the device list.

                          How to send a Master Reset to an EGX100, EGX300, EGX200 or EGX400.

                          Master Reset to an EGX100, EGX300, EGX200 or EGX400 gateways are needed to be done remotely through register write.

                          A master reset to an Ethernet Gateway (EGX) will reset all settings to the manufactures default settings including the IP address.
                          For the EGX100 and EGX300, the default IP address is 169.254.0.10. For the EGX200/400 it is 10.10.10.10.

                          Modbus Tester software or some other Modbus TCP/IP program (like Modscan) can be used to send the master reset register write.

                          For the EGX100 and EGX300 use address 254 and write decimal 9030 to register 2800.
                          For the EGX200 and EGX400 use address 254 and write decimal 17476 to register 8000.

                          Once you have sent this register command to the EGX you will have to cycle power to reboot the processor.


                           

                          Connecting an EGX150 to a serial RS485

                          Resolution
                          The EGX150 supports the Powerlogic or SY/MAX protocols. When the 'Transmission Mode' within the serial port setting is automatic, the device allows you to communicate to Modbus RTU, Jbus, and PowerLogic™ (SY/MAX) slave devices on the same daisy chain.

                          For Master mode, the usage of the COM port is:

                          • Modbus RTU devices do not have to be defined in the Device List, but it helps you manage your system.
                          • PowerLogic protocol (SY/MAX) devices must be defined in the Device List.

The protocol on the EGX150 must be set to PowerLogic (SY/MAX) in order for a connection to be established. CM2000 series meters are not designed to do 2 wire RS-485 communication. CM2000 series meters can only be wired as 4 wire RS-485 communication. If you would like to use 2 wire communication, a CNV-100 is required to convert from 2 wire to 4 wire.                           The EGX100 is a Square D branded Ethernet gateway and the TSXETG100 is a Telemecanique branded Ethernet gateway. The units are physically the same, but offer different transmission modes for serial communications.
                          The EGX100 supports Modbus RTU, Jbus, PowerLogic (SY/MAX), and Modbus ASCII.
                          The TSXETG100 only supports Modbus RTU and Modbus ASCII. PowerLogic legacy devices such as CM100/200s and CM2000s, as well as SEPAM Relays, would be unable to communicate through a TSXETG100.

                          What is the recommended serial port configuration when connecting a Powerlink G3 Controller to an EGX150 (Link150)?

                          The default number of Active connections allowed on an EGX100 Gateway is 32 Modbus/TCP Server Connections. This value can be changed to up to 48 connections with Firmware 2.7 up to 2.9 inclusive.
                          This can be done by connecting to the Gateway's web page and then adding /AdvCommsSetup.htm to the address of the gateway. This will bring you to the Advanced setup page for communications.

                          How to communicate with PowerLogic or Modbus devices on an isolated Ethernet network using EGX gateways.

                          How can 2 PC's on isolated ethernet networks both communicate to a daisy chain of PowerLogic or Modbus devices that are connected to an EGX200 or EGX400.

                          The goal is to establish communications from 2 PC's to a daisy chain of PowerLogic or Modbus devices that are connected to an EGX200 or EGX400. The EGX is on an isolated Ethernet network (Network A). One PC is on network A and the other PC is on network B. Both PC's are physically connected to separate Ethernet segments. This set of instructions and diagram will explain how this can be accomplished with the use of an additional EGX100/300

                          Network A is the isolated PowerLogic network. In this example it consists of a computer, EGX200, and two Circuit Monitors/Power Meters.

                          Network B is on a completely different network.

                          Network A:
                          The Circuit Monitor (CM) and Power meter (PM) are connected on a daisy chain (RS485) from the COM1 port of the EGX200.
                          The EGX200 will hold the device list and addresses of the connected devices of Network A.


                          Network B:
                          An EGX100 is used to bridge the two networks together.

                          Yes - the EGX100 and EGX300 enables connection to older PowerLogic meters such as the CM2000 that use the old SyMax protocol. You will likely need to wire the RS-485 bus in 4-wire mode (for the CM2000 at least). In the Devices Setup web page for the EGX, make sure to select the "PowerLogic" type and enter the corresponding Device ID for your CM2000 meter. Instead of using Modbus RTU, the EGX will use the old PowerLogic / SyMax protocol to communicate with the CM2000. This has been tested to work for SMS, ION Enterprise, SPM, and PME software.

                          Additionally, the EGX100, EGX300, and EGX150 do support Power-over-Ethernet (PoE).
                          However, as per FA209559, do not connect both PoE and external 24VDC power supply or it may result in intermittent communication.

                          Note: If polarity is reversed on the 24VDC power supply (+/-), the device will not be damaged.  It will continue to function normally once the poewr supply is returned to the instructed configuration.  

                          Replacing an ECM-RM with an EGX100 - Wiring Considerations - How IN+, IN-, OUT+, OUT- Correspond with TX+, TX-, RX+, RX-

                          The user has a daisy chain that was previously wired to an ECM-RM (Ethernet Communications Module), but that now needs to be wired to the EGX100 (Ethernet Gateway). The following is a reference of how the labels on the ECM-RM communications connection correspond to the labels on the EGX100 connector.


                          Also, the user should make sure that the dipswitches are set correctly for 4-wire communications as per the above diagram (first four up, last two down).                           The EGX400 ships from the factory with device profiles for standard Schneider Electric monitoring and protective devices.

                          Real energy, reactive energy, and apparent energy are logged by default for Schneider Electric Monitoring devices. For example, the EGX400 logs Real Energy and Real Power Demand for the Enercept and Energy Meter.

                          If the EGX100 is connected to a PoE switch and the 24VDC, the EGX100 loses communication with the Modbus devices. In addition, the EGX will stop replying to ping commands after several seconds. This is caused by multiple power sources. 

                          When the 24VDC is disconnected the relays switches to use PoE. This did not seem to have any effect with a single device connected to the EGX, however with multiple devices on the daisy chain the ride-through is not enough to support them and the EGX momentarily resets, and then resumes communication.
                           
                          Resolution
                          Remove either 24VDC or PoE and keep only one power supply source in order to have proper functionality of EGX 100 or 300 gateways.

                          According to the Installation guide, it is not stated that both the 24VDC and PoE can be used at the same time. The intended use is for either the external 24VDC supply or the PoE to be used for control power. 

                          NOTE: Modscan does seem to time-out and lose connection when the 24V dc power supply is disconnected. The connection through Modscan must be re-established manually.

                          The 66061 JBUS/Modbus card is configured for 9600, 8, N and 1.  Slave address is 1 and wiring is 2-wire with no parity and termination.  This assumes only one 66061 card or UPS or STS is connected to the enclosure but if more than one change as required.  The JBUS/Modbus card has two female DB9 connectors.  The DB9 on the right side of the card is RS232 for configuration.  The left side DB9 connector is the RS485 connections that the EGX must be wired to.
                           
                          The EGX Monitoring Enclosure has a CB, power supply and EGX100.  The EGX is configured and has been Modbus communications was factory tested.  The EGX 100 IP address is 169.254.0.10 with subnet mask of 255.255.0.0.  The IP address needs to be configured at the site.  Make sure that the dip switches on the side of the EGX are configured correctly.  One is down (off position) and all others are up.

                          Issue
                          A user would like to disable the web server ports on an EGX100 or EGX300 gateway device.

                          Cause
                          A user may need to disable HTTP on TCP port 80 and port 443 respectively due to cyber-security requirements. The EGX 100 supports HTTP only while the EGX300 supports HTTP/HTTPS.

                          Resolution
                          Disabling the HTTP/HTTPS ports on the EGX100/EGX300 gateways will restrict access to the device’s webpage. You will be required to perform a ‘Master reset’ to the device in order to be able to access the webpage again.

                          Please contact Technical Support for information on performing a master reset on an EGX100/EGX300 gateway.

                           
                          Disable the HTTP server on the EGX100:
                           
                          1. Login to the EGX100 webpage by entering the EGX100 IP address into a browser address bar.

                          PowerSCADA Expert - A way to fix Gateway Exceptions 0xB for Modbus Slave devices behind EGX100

                          Customer Issue:
                          Frequent disconnection for MODNET11 type IODevices behind an EGX100 Gateway.
                          Project was a DataCenter in UK.
                          Devices are DAC - Dry Air Cooler.
                          PSE 7.40 SR1 + HFs and Drivers used are the latest to date.
                          Glossary: PSE = PowerSCADA Expert; SR1 = Service Release 1; HFs = HotFixes

                          Resolution:
                          Several attempts to tune the Timeout, Retries and Driver Error Masking (Citect's KB - Q5923 Driver Error 00008203 (0x0000200b) with MODNET driver when connecting via a gateway) on PSE side, Response Time on serial port of EGX100 side, were not helping at all.
                          The EGX100 was replying with exception responses as if DAC devices were offline: GATEWAY_TARGET_DEVICE_FAILED_TO_RESPOND_EXCEPTION = 0xB
                          It was happening several times during runtime (I cannot say the period), but the response was not always neither to the same registers request, nor persisting more than 1 response/frame, meaning that the next Modbus request from PSE was answered properly.
                          It looked like a problematic Modbus Slave device.
                          The only efficient way to fix it was by replacing the IODevice Protocol MODNET with PwrModbus and enabling RetryException in [PWRMODBUS] section of citect.ini:
                          [PWRMODBUS]
                          RetryException = 1
                          Note: RetryException = 0 by default, meaning that retries on exceptions are disabled. More info about this parameter (like to what exception codes it retries) are found in PwrModbus Driver's help and the same in PowerSCADA Expert System Integrators Manual.
                          The number of default retries for PwrModbus driver is 3; this is handled by "[PWRMODBUS]retry" parameter.
                          I reduced this to [PWRMODBUS]retry = 2 and in this case and it worked, however it is something that can be tuned.

                          This RetryException is a feature that PwrModbus driver has, while MODNET hasn't (among others).

                          A user would like to reboot an EGX100/EGX300 without removing control power or writing to registers on the gateway.

                          1) On the EGX front panel, continuously hold reset button more than 10sec.



                          2) All of the LEDs on the EGX will flash off and then on again.
                          3) Once the EGX is booted back up it will have experienced a simulated power cycle. No data or device configuration will be lost.
