There are missing days in my Wiser energy graph.

                Issue:
The energy graph on wiserenergy.com does not show data for everyday.   Some days have no data.

                Environment:
                https://www.wiserenergy.com

                Cause:
                1.  The first possible cause is that the Wiser Gateway was unplugged, or disconnected from the internet for a period of time.  If this occurs, the home's Wiser System will not be able to report to wiser servers and data will be lost.
                2.  Another possible cause is that the power data was negative.  The graphs on wiserenergy.com will only show positive consumption.  See FA214229
                Resolution:
                1.  Make sure that your Wiser gateway is plugged in and is connected to the internet.
                2.  If your Wiser gateway has been continuously plugged in, and has had an internet connection, please contact Wiser support.

More information about how to use the Wiser Home Management System may be found in a series of video tutorials published on YouTube.   Link to the the entire playlist of tutorials here.    Video #1, "Creating an Account," most closely pertains to this topic.  This video covers setting up the Gateway and confirming the Gateway's Internet connection.   Click here to go to Video #1.

                EER56000,  EER56100

                Environment:
                Residential Home
                https://www.wiserenergy.com

                Cause:
The EER56000 and EER56100 thermostats have a display screen with variable color backlight.  The normal factory default backlight is a bright green.   This color can be changed through a setting under the a Temp Menu -> More  -> Backlight.  The color of the screen is set by a number 1 to 99 where 1 is red, 20 to 30 is green, 40 is blue-green, 50 to 60 is blue, 90 is purple.

The thermostat has 4 Demand Response levels: Low, Medium, High, and Critical.   Unless it has been commanded by the utility company to be at a higher Demand Response Level, then the thermostat will be at the default Low level with a default color of 31 (green).   A limited number EER56000 thermostats were sold into accounts involving Demand Response programs with utility companies in 2013 to 2015 time frame.  It is very unlikely that the color display change is caused by a Demand Response event, but check with the Wiser Home Management Applications Engineering team to verify.

A possible cause of display screen color change is a defective backlight. See Resolution area for testing instructions.

                Resolution:
If you can verify that Demand Response events are possible for the installation, then the screen color could be normal.

Test the backlight color by accessing the color adjustment screen under Temp Menu -> More  -> Backlight.  Use the wheel to adjust the color number.  If the color does not follow the normal operation where 1 is red, 20 to 30 is green, 40 is blue-green, 50 to 60 is blue, 90 is purple, then one of the backlight LEDs has burned out.  Replace thermostat under warranty if applicable and within 18 month warranty period.

                Cause:
Function and necessity of Gateway is unclear.

                Resolution:
The Wiser Gateway (aka Coordinator) is the hub of the connected home.   The Gateway can be thought of as a translator.   The Wiser Devices communicate via ZigBee radio protocol, which is more secure than WiFi.   The Gateway translates the ZigBee messages to Internet TCP/IP protocol.  Without the Gateway, no data from Wiser Devices  is accessible over the internet.   Most Wiser functions will not work without a Gateway.

                https://www.wiserenergy.com

                Cause:
Customer is concerned about the amount of data that the Wiser system may be transmitting.

                Resolution:
The Wiser Home Management System uses very little internet data.  Within the home, the devices commincate to the Gateway via Zigbee radio technology.  Thus, no internet communication occurs among the devices within the home.   Internet communication occurs every 15 minutes as the Gateway reports device data up to the Wiser servers.  These communications are less than 50kB, consisting of numerical energy data for last 15 minute time interval.

Wiser Generation 1.0 System 2013 to 2015, centered on the Wiser Coordinator EER21200 and the portal https://www.wiserenergy.com

                Environment:
                United States and Canada

                Cause:
The website for the Wiser System, Generation 1.0,  www.wiserenergy.com, is powered by security company Alarm.com.  Alarm.com setup the site with 2 plans of features, Basic and Premium.  The Premium plan costs %5.99 per month billed to a credit card.   Customer may not have realized that his account was setup as Premium.

From 2013 to 2015, KB Home was one of the major Wiser Customers.  With KB Home, there was a plan in place to allow Premium plan for free for 1 year.  KB Home customers may have registered as Premium accounts.  After 1 year, those customers get notified that their account billing is beginning.

                Resolution:
Explain the differences between Premium and Basic plans. See attachment.   Login to the Alarm.com Dealer Portal for Wiser.  Convert the account to Basic or terminate the customer.

Wiser Power Meter will not connect to Coordinator

                Issue:
Wiser Power Meter will not connect to Coordinator.  Home Owner entered the catch phrase of Power Meter, but the device will not add the network.

                Product Line:
Wiser Home Management System,  EER21200, WISERJLPM200

                Environment:
                Wiser Home Management System,  wiserernergy.com

                Cause:
This issue can be caused by several factors.  The most common cause found in 2014, state of Texas, KB Homes, was that the contractors install the Power Meter in metal boxes on the outside of the house.  The metal box blocks the ZigBee radio signal.

                Resolution:
Some locations, such as Texas, it is common to install a Utility Meter / Circuit Breaker Combo panel on the outside of the house.   If the breaker panel is on the outside of the house, then the Power Meter is probably on the outside of the house as well.  Find out the condition of the Power Meter installation.  If the Power Meter is in a metal box, then test joining to the network with the cover the of the metal box removed.   If this works, then the metal box is the cause.   The first recommended action is to force the installing contractor to install the Power Meter in a plastic or fiberglass enclosure.   Another solution is to install the Coordinator or another Wiser Device very close to the Power Meter but on the inside of the house.  If the distance is short enough, the devices might be able to communicate even though the Power Meter is in a metal enclosure.

Verify that the breaker feeding power to the Power Meter is on.  Verify that the Power Meter indicator lights work properly and that and the Power Meter is in join mode.

                Cause:
Each new device must be manually added to the Wiser network using the Wiser Portal www.wiserenergy.com

                Resolution:
                1.  From the web portal, select the Settings tab. Then select "Add a new device" and select the type of device that you would like to add. Each Wiser device has a unique three word catch phrase,  Enter this information and then click next.   The catchphrases are printed on stickers that are attached to the cardboard carton packaging and/or the device itself.  See description of each product below for more information about it's catchphrase locations for various devices.
                2.  In order for a device to be added to the Wiser network, it has to be in join mode.  Some Wiser devices are configured to be in autojoin mode. If the web portal is not successful at adding a Wiser device, verify that the device has power and is in join mode.  Each device indicates that it is in Join Mode in a different way.  A summary of those Join Mode Indicators is listed below along with how to put the device into Join Mode.

                Wiser Power Monitor
Catchphrase:  In new consrtuction projects, the electrician should have placed a catch phrase sticker on the inside of your electrical panel door.   Also,  there is a catchphrase sticker on the Power Monitor itself.
Join Mode:  The power / zigbee indicator light will blink amber when in join mode.

                Wiser Thermostat EER56000 EER56100
