Wiser Air will not connect to a Wi-Fi network that is not protected by a password.   When setting up a Wiser Air thermostat, it will detect Wi-Fi networks and ask the user to input Wi-Fi password.  If one tries to skip the password entry, Wiser Air will report an error message that the password is an invalid length.

The Wiser Air Thermostat is not recognizing or connecting to a desired WiFi network.

Cause:
Schneider Electric places a strong emphasis on the security of the Wiser Air Thermostat.  As such, Wiser Air Thermostat is designed to require, at minimum, WPA Personal Wi-Fi network security. The product will not connect to insecure Wi-Fi networks such as those without passwords or ones that use the outdated WEP (Wired Equivelant Privacy) standard. Also, only 2.4GHz networks are compatible with Wiser Air.

What if the line Isc (prospective short-circuit current) is greater than the values stated in the Altivar catalogue tables?

To get the answer we have to first understand how diodes work on the input bridge of the drive.

A diode will conduct when the anode is greater than the cathode  Current flow is then permitted and the diode is forward biased. When the forward voltage becomes negative the Current flow is prohibited; the diode is reversed biased.  In actuality, a very small amount of current can and does go through a reverse-biased diode for a brief period of time (micro seconds) before returning to zero at which stage the diode is off. This current is leakage current or otherwise known in the VSD world as commutating current.

This current is then limited only by the system impedance. Installing a VSD on an electrical system with a higher Isc than the VSD rating can cause overheating of the diodes, this can result in premature failure due to the higher peak and RMS current.
VSD's are designed for a specific expected “maximum prospective short-circuit current .” The power component selection and the power section layout of the VSD design determines at what level of Isc the product will be rated.
Schneider Electric publishes this rating under the column heading “maximum prospective line Isc” in the VSD catalogues.

The resulting commutating current can only be reduced with inductance (Line Choke) in series with the diode bridge/rectifying bridge. Line chokes can be selected based on drive model in the associated drive catalogue.

How do you perform a diode static check on the Flex58 drives?

Cause:
Checking diodes to see if they are shorted.

Resolution:
Before starting, make sure you turn off ALL POWER on the drive.  Wait 15 mins, so that the DC bus has time to discharge below 24vdc on PA+ and PC-.
Using a multi-meter with a diode checker , measure between the DC Bus terminals PA/+ to L1-L2-L3 , then reverse the meter leads and read again between PA/+ to L1-L2-L3.  In one direction, you should read 0.30 to 0.60, and in the reverse direction you should read OL.  Repeat this measurement with the blue wire (PC/-) on the J18 connector or on the (PC-) terminal.  If "shorted circuit" is read in any of the readings, repair or replace the drive is recommended. 
 

Why does my other equiptment trip when my contactor releases?

The colapsing coil voltage on DC is causing a Back EMF (electro magnetic field) issue. This is solved with either a varistor LA4SKE1E or a Diode LA4SKC1U on the LP1K09 contactor.

Drive has faulted. Customer wants to do a full diode and IGBT check on the drive to see if it is functional.

Resolution:

Warning: This test needs to be done with the power off to the drive and the DC bus discharged.

Sizes 25HP and below
Check input:
Using a digital Fluke multimeter or similar meter set to the diode scale. Measure from L1, L2, L3 to PA/+. Your meter should read 0.3 to 0.7 V in the forward bias direction and 'OL' in the reverse bias direction.
Using the meter in diode scale, measure from L1, L2, L3 to PC/-. Your meter should read 0.3 to 0.7 V in the forward bias direction and 'OL' in the reverse bias direction. 
Check output:
Now measure the output terminals the same way. Be sure your meter is set in diode scale and measure T1, T2, T3 to PA/+. You should read 0.3 to 0.7v in the forward bias direction and 'OL' in the reverse bias direction. 
Measure T1, T2, T3 to the PC/- terminals. Your meter should read 0.3 to 0.7v in the forward direction and 'OL' in the reverse direction.



On 30HP and above sizes
Using the meter in Ohm scale, check L1, L2, L3 to PA/+ you will read 40k Ohms or higher in both forward and reverse direction.
Put your meter in the diode scale and from L1, L2, L3 to PC/-. Your meter should read 0.3 to 0.7v in the forward bias direction and 'OL' in the reverse bias
Now check T1, T2 ,T3 to PA/+ in diode scale. Your meter should read 0.3 to 0.7v in the forward bias direction and 'OL' in the reverse direction.

What is the replacement for the IN250?

The replacement is the "INS250". Part number is 31106. 

Please note that the dimensions differ by up to 100mm and will not fit on to an exiting chassis where a IN250 was. you may need to mount it in a seperate box then run power over to it.

The LAD4TBDL is 24 vdc bi-directional diode offered as a replacement if for some reason the diode supplied with the Tesys LC1D09 through LC1D38 contactors when ordered with BD or BL voltage code breaks or is no longer working.


 

Infrascan 750WPR is not operating correctly when a manual override on switch is wired in parallel with the LED indicator wired to stay on when the load is on.

You are getting a backfeed through your switchwire which is causing the relay in the infrascan to stay on. The solution would be to install a diode on your switchwire to stop the backfeed going to your sensor.

There are 2 reference numbers for the GPRS modem:
  • EBXA-GPRS-SIM
  • EBXA-GPRS
NOTE: The good operation of GPRS and Wi-Fi is not guaranteed with other GPRS modems or Wi-Fi USB keys.

The SIM card is embedded in the GPRS modem. You can only use the EBXA GPRS SIM to publish data if you are exporting data to Remote Service Platform. The settings of this GPRS access are set by the Com'X.
The reference EBXA-GRPS-SIM must be selected for the GPRS modem.

NOTE:
For the Com'X that comes with the SIM card included: The SIM card that comes with the Com'X 510 is Vodafone, but will connect to the T-Mobile network in the United States once the card is activated.

Static Diode Test Procedure ATV212:
The following tests are to be performed with NO power to the drive. 
Select diode mode on the meter.
1. To test the diodes on the positive DC bus
    a. Place the black lead of meter on PA+ and the Red lead on L1.  The meter should read about 0.3V
    b. Reverse the meter leads so the black is on L1 and the red is on PA+.  The meter should read OL
    c. Repeat this on L2 and L3
2. To test the diodes on the negative DC bus
    a. Place the black lead of the meter on PC- and the red lead on L1.  The meter should read OL
    b. Reverse the meter leads so the black is on L1 and the red is on PC-.  The meter should read .3V
    c. Repeat this on L2 and L3

Diodes can fail in either shorted or open condition.

There is no built in  Suppressor with diodes or varistor embedded in TeSys U.
The Tesys U principle is fully different with a standard Electro-mechanical contactor with standard coil.
The energy to operate the coil is generated by an electronic converter, then we have a full separation between the coil and the control circuit.
So there is no need for a built in Diode or Suppressor.

Checked Line voltage L1 L2 L3 they are all good  490 vac phase to phase. DC bus on PA to PC was only 14 VDC it should be 680 VDC. 
Suspect  a issue with the input diode circuit, soft charge board, power board and or DC bus capacitors. Power down and do an static check on the input side of the drive PA to L1 L2 L2 and PC to L1 L2 L3.

Before replacing the line fuses and power it back up again, please get a Fluke meter, and do a full diode static check on the input L1 L2 L3 and  U, V, W output terminals to + and - bus.
The full diode check will show you two readings, you will measure .3vdc to .7vdc in forward bias direction or OL in the reverse direction.
Please reference the ATV66 troubleshooting and repair manuals VD0C06S701, and VD0C06S702 for more information on where and how do perform static checks on the drive.

Resolution:
1.The demo box has two cables with RJ45 connectors.  The larger of the two is a Modbus cable and cannot be used to connect to the Wi-Fi.  The smaller flat cable which also has RJ45 connectors on each end is the cable needed for the Ethernet connection to the WIFER.  See the attached picture.
2. Disconnect from local LAN, if connected. Discover the Wifer device on available networks. Double-Click to connect. Then open a Browser and goto www.a.com.
3. Depending on release version of the OS of your laptop, tablet, the WIFER WEB site is automatically opened as soon as the Web Browser is launched. But with other OS it could be necessary to enter a simple URL like "www.a.com" in the Browser line to force the Browser to open and show the WIFER Web site.
4. Disable Pop up blocker.

Issue:
Java upgrades do not complete on vSphere Management Assistant (vMA) 6.5. This is due to the limited disk space available on vMA.

Resolution:

PowerChute Business Edition v10.0 requires ~1GB of available space to successfully install and upgrade the Java version used. NOTE: Java files differ in size depending on the version.

To successfully upgrade the Java version used with PowerChute on vMA 6.5, remove files to increase the available hard disk space.
 

Why can I not install PowerChute Business Edition on RHEL 5.11?

Issue: 

When installing PowerChute Business Edition on RHEL 5.11, the following error message is seen, “RSA/SHA1 signature:BAD, RPM cannot be installed” and the installation is unsuccessful. This happens because RPM signing keys are not supported for RHEL 5.11.

How to connect 3-Wire Modbus to an ION Meter

The Shield and GND (ground) connections are internally connected in an ION meter using a diode bridge.


This is the best wiring solution for connecting a 3-Wire RS-485 device to an ION Meter (COM1 or COM2).

After multiple installations of PowerChute Business Edition on the same Linux server, a rpmdb PANIC can occur, resulting in the following error message, “rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery”. This error message is due to the rpm database becoming corrupted, and requiring a rebuild.

Solution:

Follow the steps below to rebuild the rpm database and successfully install PowerChute:

  1. If a yum repository has been configured on the Linux server, clean the cache using the following command:
yum clean-all
  1. Remove the rpm database packages and rebuild the database:
rm -f/var/lib/rpm/_db*
rpm --rebuilddb
  1. Install PowerChute Business Edition using the rpm install commands:
  1. For v9.5
rpm -ivh pbeagent-9.5.0-301.XX.rpm

Although most translations are either based in the Advanced View software that pulls it's region information from the local computer or from the bot itself which has it's own region settings, the graph feature uses both the Advanced View and the Bot itself to pull this information. Since the local computer settings can differ from the Netbotz appliance settings, it was determined that the best alternative to having mixed languages and temperature readings was to have the graph read as English US.

Resolution:

Version 3.2 Botzware for Version 3 Netbotz products resolves this issue.

The RMICAN certification is given for a range from 69V-480V. If one wants certification at a different nominal voltage, a new certification for the given nominal voltage has to be issued. The local Measurement Canada Rep should be where to apply since regulations might differ from one location to another.

When configuring the IP for Data Center Expert, we have seen instances where customers have configured an identical IP in the BMC or iDRAC card on the server.

Resolution:

When configuring StruxureWare, the IP of the operating system must be unique on the network. This also means it must differ than the IP given to the iDRAC card on the server which also must be unique. It has been seen that both public and private LAN access may be inaccessible if the iDRAC IP conflicts with the operating system IP.

The registers are stored in the meter as a signed 32 bit value but the EGX register read and Modbus Tester treat the register as an unsigned 32 bit value.

What is the part number for a cover plate to suit the C2025VX Classic Series vertical with extra switch?

Depending on the age of the plate if it was prior to the redesign, the outlet cover would be a C2025VXC. However, if it is the redesigned model it will be the C2025VXC2.

You can tell the model by looking at the terminals on the back of the grid plate the older model will have round terminals wherefore the new model will have Square terminals.

Looking at the cover it is hard to tell what model it is because the switch will only differ by a few millimeters.

Cause:
ATV12 drive is powering up with an SCF4 fault.

Resolution:
SCF4 means IGBT short circuit fault.
Possible issues: Internal power component short circuit detected at power on.  The drive may need to be replaced if the fault is coming up on power up. Check for any exploded/burnt electrical components on the drive. Also try running the drive without the motor leads connected and see if the fault persists. 

A static check can be performed on the drive:

Checking The Input and Output Diode Bridges
This test is done using a digital multi-meter in diode test mode to check that the transistors and diodes are not short-circuited. 


ALL TESTS ARE TO BE PERFORMED WITH ALL SOURCES OF POWER REMOVED FROM THE DRIVE

    • To measure Input SCRs and diodes.
      • Set meter to ohm scale

      • Set meter to diode scale

Resolution:
  • Check the cables connecting the drive to the motor, and the motor’s insulation
    • Using a 1,000V Megger, test the motor and leads
    • Check for tight wiring connections
  • Perform tests via the [1.10 DIAGNOSTICS] menu.​
    • [Diagnostics] -> [Test Procedures] -> Thyristors Test and Transistor Test
  • Run the drive open circuit (with the motor disconnected, OPL turned off, and Motor Control Type set to V/F 2pts) and check the drive's output (T) terminals for balanced voltages phase to phase

  • Perform a diode check between U,W,V and PA+ PC-. Then measure between L1, L2, L3 and PA+ and PC-:
NOTE: This step should be performed when no line voltage is present on the drive. Power down the drive before performing this step. 
-Measure (using your meter's diode  scale) in one direction, then swap your leads and measure again
Measure between PA+ to L1,L2,L3 and between PC- to T1,T2,T3 (total of 6 measurements on the input and 6 measurements on the output)
-You should see 'OL' in one direction and a small voltage reading (approximately 0.3-.0.5V) in the other direction

Component failures resulting in short circuits.

Resolution:
Multiple scenarios are described:

The drive will detect an output short circuit and turn off the IGBTs. This limits the output current to about 1.8 times the drive rating, and it clears in microseconds.

If there are internal short circuits in the drive, then the drive relies on the Overcurrent Protective Devices (OCPD) ahead of the drive. If Class J fuses are used, these will clear quickly and the fuse let-through will be according to the published curves for those fuses.  Currents will be further limited by any ac line reactor or dc choke that may be used. See our SCCR Annex documents that ship with each drive for details on OCPD and SCC Ratings.

Here are some possible options for internal shorts:

/* Most common */
If an input diode shorts,
OR the dc capacitors short,
OR two IGBTs in one leg short,
THEN a line to line short results on the drive input, the fuses clear, and there is no output current.

/* Rare */
If there is one IGBT that shorts
AND the other IGBTs are not shorted
AND there is a ground fault on the phase with the shorted IGBT,
THEN a Half Wave rectified dc short results.
The fuses or ground fault relay are relied upon to clear. The bond wires in the IGBTs or diodes may clear before the fuses do.

If there is one IGBT connected to the + bus that shorts,
AND a second IGBT on a DIFFERENT leg that shorts to the - bus,
AND none of the other IGBTs are shorted
THEN full wave rectified dc current results on the output, limited by the dc resistance of the motor and any ac line reactors or dc chokes.  The fuses are relied upon to clear.  The bond wires in the IGBTs or diodes may clear before the fuses do.

Resolution:
A voltage surge or spike on the mA input exceeding 7.9 V on this input will cause the analog input to jump to 20 mA and to stay there until power is cycled.
If the voltage surge/spike can't be eliminated by proper cable routing and shielding, or through the use of an isolator you can install a 6.8 V zener diode (available at most electronic stores) to prevent the excess voltage from reaching the AI2 input.
Put the cathode end (marked with a line) on the AI2 input, and the other end on the COM terminal.
