                                                                                                Drive displays 'NLP'

                                                                                                Resolution:
                                                                                                NLP indicates that no line power is present on the L1, L2 & L3 input terminals of the drive controller.

                                                                                                Check voltage at the L1, L2 & L3 terminals.
                                                                                                Check for open circuits on line contactors, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, or fuses.

                                                                                                If NLP state does not change with correct voltage present on L1, L2, & L3, remove the control board and check for loose connections of ribbon cables inside the drive.
                                                                                                WARNING: This step should be performed while the drive is powered down, and proper personal protective equipment should be worn. 

                                                                                                For example: In an ATV71HC25N4 a customer found a loose X3 connector from the control board to the board behind and above the control board. This connector was on a ribbon cable that was about 1 inch by 1 inch. Drive ran OK after this was reseated.

                                                                                                Is there a problem using Altivar 61 or Altivar 71 drives delta power system?

                                                                                                As long as the input voltage remains within the normal range there should not be a problem.
                                                                                                This should be treated the same way as an impedance grounded system.
                                                                                                Remove the jumper to the left of the power terminal.

                                                                                                It may be possible to install the drive in a properly selected enclosure by a local panel builder or contractor.

                                                                                                For all ATV61 and ATV71 drives without the letter Z at the end of the part number the keypad is included.
                                                                                                However, it is easy to not notice the keypad in the packaging material. The keypad is located inside folded cardboard that also functions as packing material. Check inside all folded cardboard packing materials. There is no sticker to indicate that the keypad is inside.

                                                                                                ATV61 & ATV71 drives with the letter Z at the end of the part number do not include the removable LCD HMI keypad display. These units do have a simplified LED display and programming keys on the face of the control board itself. The removable LCD HMI keypad display may be installed on these units.

                                                                                                For the ATV61 & ATV71 drives there is an option to have product treated for increased protection for dusty and corrosive environments. This product is not stocked. Add 'S337' to the end of the catalog number and multiply the listed price by 1.2 to obtain new price. With this option, exposed copper is tinned, circuit boards are conformal coated in critical areas and plastics are treated to better withstand the corrosive nature of certain oils. This option is standard on 55kW/75HP @ 230 Vac and higher & 90kW/125HP @ 460 Vac and higher.

                                                                                                Heat sink fan operation differs depending on the frame size of the drive:
                                                                                                - for size 2 to 5B drives, fans start when the drive thermal state reaches a temperature level --> THD parameter = 70%.  The fans turns off when drive thermal is less than 60%
                                                                                                - for size 6 to 8 drives and 690V range drives, the fans run when the run command is given or when the drive thermal is greater than or equal to 70% and turns off when the drive thermal is less than 60% and runs for 1 minute after the run command is removed.
                                                                                                - for size 9 to 15 drives and 690V range drives, the fans run when the run command is given or when the drive thermal is greater than or equal to 70% and turns off when the drive thermal is less than 60% and runs for 10 minutes after the run command is removed.

                                                                                                For example, an ATV61HD18M3X drive (size 6), the heatsink fan starts when a Run command is given.


                                                                                                 

                                                                                                Are the ATV61/71 high horsepower drives available without the DC choke?

                                                                                                Yes.  Add a D suffix to the drive part number.
                                                                                                For example:
                                                                                                ATV61HC22N4 includes a DC choke.
                                                                                                ATV61HC22N4D does not include a DC choke.

                                                                                                Note that if a DC choke is not used, a jumper wire, of sufficient current capacity, must  be installed between the PA and PO terminals.  A good rule of thumb is to use the same size wire that is on the DC choke for the jumper wire.   Also, if the DC choke is not used, a 5% line reactor ahead of the drive is Mandatory.  Failure to use a 5% line reactor ahead of the drive if no DC choke is present can result in damage to the drive that warranty does not cover.
