Why do I get error message "There is not enough room on disk drive C:\884FolderName to create the BIN file" when creating a new database in the ProWorx 884 software?

To eliminate the "There is not enough room on disk drive C:\884FolderName to create the BIN file" error, you have two options when creating a new ProWorx 884 database:
1) Create a new 10Meg partition on your hard-drive other than the C: drive. This is because the ProWorx 884 DOS software was created a long time ago when hard-drives were no bigger than 20Meg. Anything over 20Meg and the ProWorx 884 software will see it as not enough disk space.

2) Create a new ProWorx 884 database and put it into the A: floppy drive. Then copy the new ProWorx 884 database files from the A: floppy drive and place them into your C:\884FolderName folder. You can then go into the C:\884FolderName folder, select and open the database and start programming.

How do the PDL 600 and 800 series product codes work?

As a general rule of thumb -
PDL items require PDL at the front of the code.
600 series item codes start with 6.
600 series switch codes start with 68.
The number of switches fitted in the plate is the 3rd number in the code, 681 = single 600 series switch, 682 = double 600 series switch
600 series socket codes start with 69.
The 3rd digit in a socket code indicates the type of socket, 691 = single vertical socket, 692 = double vertical socket, 694 = single horizontal socket, 695 = double horizontal socket.
Most codes require a colour code at the end, WH = white, BK = black.
eg. To order a black double vertical switched socket the complete code would be PDL692BK.
800 series (Modena) item codes start with 8 and follow the same format as above. (800 series items with Strato plates start with S8...)
eg. An 800 series Modena double switch in white = PDL882WH, a Strato double horizontal switched socket in black = PDLS895BK
In both series metal cover plates are an extra option to be supplied separately, coded to fit the plate required, eg. 600 series single switch metal plate in Stainless Steel = PDL681MSS (M = Metal, BBZ = Brushed Bronze, PB = Polished Brass) Some plastic cover plates are available eg. PDL681CWH (C = Cover), PDL800PSCH (PS = Plastic Surround, CH = Champagne, there are 9 colour options in 800 series)
Strato brushed aluminium plates also need BK or WH to decide the trim colour, eg. PDLS800CBABK or PDLS800CBAWH (C = Cover , BA = Brushed Aluminium)
Module grids with covers are available in BK or WH, eg. PDL684VHWH (VH = vertical/horizontal since the grid is empty and module can be fitted either way), PDLS800GPSBK (GPS = Grid, Plate, & Surround).
Grids without covers included are only available in Modena 800 series, PDL800G (horizontal) or PDL800GV (vertical)
Refer pdl.co.nz for further details and options.

Why can't I see my descriptors after importing a Taylor 484 program using ProWORX 32?

When importing a Taylor 484 program using ProWORX 32, the descriptors do not get imported. In order to get the descriptors into the new ProWORX 32 Project, you need to export them as a Taylor ASCII file using the Taylor 484 Utility and then import them into ProWORX 32 using the "Import Documentation" function.

Note: Proworx software is obsolete and upgrading the hardware and the software to Unity Pro and either the M340, M580, or Unity Momentum, for more information contact your local distributor or Schneider Electric Sales office.

Does the ProWorx 884 software have a compare utility?

Yes. The ProWorx 884 software has a network file compare utility that can compare the networks from file 1 with those from file 2. This is a three pass comparison that tests for unchanged networks, moved networks and networks that have been edited. This option also builds a table of network numbers comparing file 1 to file 2. From this table the mismatched networks may be displayed or printed.

984 HSBY Module Use Clarification

Goals and Symptoms

The purpose of this resolution is to identify which Hot Standby (HSBY) modules are used with the 984 Chassis Mount PLCs and which are used with 984 Slot Mount PLCs.

Facts and Changes

AM-S911-000 and AM-R911-000 HSBY option modules are for use with the 984 Chassis Mount PLCs only. They will not fit into a 984 Slot Mount backplane.
The AS-S911-800 is for use with the 984 Slot Mount PLCs only. It will not fit into a 984 Chassis Mount housing.

Causes and Fixes

The AM-S911-000 was the first HSBY module for 984 Chassis Mount configurations. This module was redesigned to improve system reliability and the new version designated AM-R911-000. The AM-S911-000 and AM-R911-000 are not compatible and can not be interconnected. A 984 Chassis Mount HSBY system must contain either AM-S911-000 modules or AM-R911-000 modules.

There is only one version HSBY module for the 984 Slot Mount PLCs, ie: AS-S911-800.

Why can I communicate to my 584A and 584M controller with my P190 and can't with ProWORX NxT?

The ProWORX NxT software will only communicate with the Level 3 or Level 4, 584 controllers. Any 584 A or 584M that part number starts with a -1XX is a level 1 or a level 2 controller. E.g. AS-584A-110 or AS-584M-110. These will not work with the ProWORX NxT software and you will need to continue to use your P190.
