How do I adjust the acceleration and deceleration rate of Lexium 28 when controlled via CANopen?

When writing a PLC program to control Lexium 28 via CAN you will notice that the function blocks for position movements do not include an input for acceleration and deceleration, leading to the question of how to adjust these values.

The LXM28 library does not include a function block specifically for writing to the "ramp profiles".

If the ramps only need to be written once then you can modify the default values which are written in the "ServiceDataObject" at 6083 and 6084.
The default values are written at 4266666667, which likely result in very stiff movements.

You may also optional map these items to the empty RPD, for example, mapping 6083 and 6084 to RPD04 or change the mapping of RPD02 or RPD03.

The recommended and most commoly used method is to write to these two parameters via SDO using the MC_WriteParemeter FB.

          See attachment example.

Are the ION meters seismic and/or vibrational compliant?

As of right now, no ION hardware undergoes any testing for seismic and/or vibrational compliance. No meters in the ION family have this compliance. Typical standards are IEEE 693 and IEC 60255-21-3.

"Notify All Connected Users" not working in RHEL 6.3

          Issue:
The "notify all connected users" function does not working in RHEL 6.3 (Red Hat Linux version 6.3)

          Product Line:
          PowerChute Business Edition

          Environment:
          OS: RHEL 6.3 X64
Build: PowerChute Business Edition 8.0.1 and 9.x OEM Basic

          Cause:
Notifications are not sent to remote RHEL machines or other Windows machines in the same network.
Instead, notifications are seen only at the localhost, that is, the RHEL machine where PowerChute Business Edition is installed.

Notifications can be sent to Windows machines when this RHEL PowerChute Agent is added to a PowerChute Console.
These notifications are sent from the Console installed on Windows and not from RHEL.

          Resolution:
This issue will be addressed in a future PowerChute Business Edition release.

How do the PDL 600 and 800 series product codes work?

As a general rule of thumb -
PDL items require PDL at the front of the code.
600 series item codes start with 6.
600 series switch codes start with 68.
The number of switches fitted in the plate is the 3rd number in the code, 681 = single 600 series switch, 682 = double 600 series switch
600 series socket codes start with 69.
The 3rd digit in a socket code indicates the type of socket, 691 = single vertical socket, 692 = double vertical socket, 694 = single horizontal socket, 695 = double horizontal socket.
Most codes require a colour code at the end, WH = white, BK = black.
eg. To order a black double vertical switched socket the complete code would be PDL692BK.
800 series (Modena) item codes start with 8 and follow the same format as above. (800 series items with Strato plates start with S8...)
eg. An 800 series Modena double switch in white = PDL882WH, a Strato double horizontal switched socket in black = PDLS895BK
In both series metal cover plates are an extra option to be supplied separately, coded to fit the plate required, eg. 600 series single switch metal plate in Stainless Steel = PDL681MSS (M = Metal, BBZ = Brushed Bronze, PB = Polished Brass) Some plastic cover plates are available eg. PDL681CWH (C = Cover), PDL800PSCH (PS = Plastic Surround, CH = Champagne, there are 9 colour options in 800 series)
Strato brushed aluminium plates also need BK or WH to decide the trim colour, eg. PDLS800CBABK or PDLS800CBAWH (C = Cover , BA = Brushed Aluminium)
Module grids with covers are available in BK or WH, eg. PDL684VHWH (VH = vertical/horizontal since the grid is empty and module can be fitted either way), PDLS800GPSBK (GPS = Grid, Plate, & Surround).
Grids without covers included are only available in Modena 800 series, PDL800G (horizontal) or PDL800GV (vertical)
Refer pdl.co.nz for further details and options.

Leakage current from APC Back UPS products

          Issue:

How can I gauge the amount of leakage current from my Back-UPS?

          Product Line:

          All Back-UPS models.

          Environment:

          N/A

          Cause / Resolution:

All APC Back UPS models, by themselves exhibit less than 1 milli-amps of

leakage current. If a load is attached, then the leakage current measured

on the output of the UPS will include the leakage current of the load as well

          as the UPS.

Upgrading process from APM Version 6.3 (on ION Enterprise 6.0.x) to ENM 8.3 (on PME 8.0)

          Issue
Upgrading process from APM Version 6.3 (on ION Enterprise 6.0)  to ENM 8.3 ( on PME 8.0)

          Product Line
ION Enterprise 6.0.x with APM Version 6.3
Power Monitoring Expert 7.2.2 with ENM 8.2
Power Monitoring Expet 8.0 with ENM 8.3

          Cause
There is not a direct path to upgrade APM 6.3 to ENM 8.3

          Environment
Upgrading the APM v6.3 (on ION Enterprise 6.0) to ENM 8.3 on PME 8.0 system.

          Resolution
*Warning: These procedures should only be performed by users familiar with ENM, PME and SQL Server Management Studio. Take backups of databases prior to performing these procedure. Ensure the backups are in a location that will not be overwritten (e.g. external hard drive).

There is no procedure that provides direct upgrade from APM version 6.3 to ENM 8.3. As a result, there are two possible outcome from this situation.

          Outcome 1:
Customer/Application Engineer can review their configuration on APM version 6.3 . If the configuration is easy, re-create the configuration on the new ENM 8.3. The ideal way would be to upgrade the ION Enterprise 6.0 to PME 8.0, and then install fresh ENM 8.3 and re-configure the ENM 8.3 to match configuration in previous versions of ENM \ APM.

          Outcome 2:
Customer/Application engineer can review their configuration on APM version 6.3 and if they want to keep the configuration, they will have to go through upgrading process listed below:
          1. Begin on ION Enterprise 6.0.x system: Upgrade the APM version 6.3 to ENM 7.0
          2. Then upgrade ION Enterprise 6.0.x to PME 7.2.2.
          3. Upgrade ENM 7.0 to ENM 7.1
          4. Upgrade ENM 7.1 to ENM 8.0
          5. Upgrade ENM 8.0 to ENM 8.2
          6. Upgrade PME 7.2.2 to PME 8.0.
          7. Last, upgrade ENM 8.2 to ENM 8.3 (ENM 8.3 requires license activation ID, do not upgrade software before having the license key)
NOTE: Before upgrading APM/ENM version, user will have to uninstall the previous version and then install new version. In addition, different ENM version looks for associated PME version. Therefore, it's very important that upgrade is run together as mentioned in 7 steps above or ENM installer will not upgrade successfully. View table below which shows APM / ENM Compatibility Matrix with ION Enterprise \ PME Software:

2010-11-19 DRM * Added precision to include references to the "0.2 Accuracy Class" as this was not mentioned in the original version of this article.
          * Updated information on the version of the standards currently used (IEC 687 has been superceded by IEC 62053-22).
          * Eliminated all references to the range of current level employed in the testing sweeps of the conformance testing procedure since this is not relevant in the context of the level of detail of this article.
          * Eliminated references to the frequencies at which the conformance testing is conducted because the details are actually more complicated than simply 50 and 60 Hz.

Is it possible to give Start/Stop commands from PLC via Modbus Port on LUCM module of TeSys U.

You can connect the Modbus port of LUCM module (Multi Functional Control Unit) of TeSys U controller with PLC in order to access all the registers, except the registers from 680 to 705. To access these registers for write function, you need a communication module depending on the protocol.

Therefore the command registers (like Start/Stop) 700,703,704,705 cannot be accessed for writing by the PLC via LUCM Modbus port. However, you can read and monitor the values of Tesys U controller.

Single Phase Symmetra Battery Capacity Below 100%

          Issue

The battery capacity of a single phase Symmetra may not reach 100%.

Note: This does not apply for battery capacity readings of 99%; a Symmetra system indicating 99% is operating normally.  A Symmetra will only display 100% under certain conditions such as having experienced no load fluctuation for several minutes.  At 100% the system can be commanded to perform a runtime calibration.

          Product Line

          Symmetra Power Array
          Symmetra RM
          Symmetra LX

          Environment

          All serial ranges

          Cause

If the system has been allowed sufficient time to charge its batteries but is still showing a battery capacity value below 99% or 100%, there may be an issue with the XR communication card's ability to measure voltage of the battery modules in its frame.

          Resolution

To troubleshoot this issue, check the battery capacity and battery voltage in the PowerView Status menu as well as the raw status information for the extended run frame(s).  Next, take physical measurements of the DC voltage at the Anderson Connector of the extended run battery frame(s) and the Symmetra mainframe using a multimeter.

If the battery voltage in the status menu is approximately 137 VDC, the voltage reading at the Anderson connector for the extended run frame is 137 VDC, but the raw status of the extended run battery frame(s) is lower than VINT=137 then the XR communications card should be replaced/swapped.

          Cause:
          ERR7

          Resolution:
          Probable Causes:
Serial link time out error. The keypad display is not getting a response from the drive controller. If the keypad display is remotely mounted, electrical noise may be present. The port baud rate (tbr) may be set to 9600 bits/s.
          Corrective Actions:
Cycle power on the drive controller. If the keypad display is remotely mounted, verify that the cable is properly shielded. Ensure that the cable is routed away from motor leads. See below menu 4 control for instructions for resetting the tbr parameter back to 19200 bits/s. If the problem persists, replace the control board on the drive controller with part number VX4A581U. An Ini fault may be displayed if the problem persists.

StruxureWare Central 6.3 or higher fails to turn on rack PDU outlet.

          Issue:

StruxureWare Central fails to turn on rack PDU outlet.

          Product Line:

StruxureWare Central / Data Center Expert

          Environment:

          StruxureWare Central 6.3 and higher

          Cause:

If StruxureWare Central does not have the proper SNMP Write community name, it will be unable to send the proper set command to turn off the outlet(s).

In other cases, some rPDU's that support controllable outlets have a feature that prevents turning on outlets if the device is in a warning or critical overload/near overload state.

          Resolution:

In these instances, the Central will send the set command down to the device. Central has no knowledge of the turn on restriction. The card then receives the SNMP command and it either does or does not turn on the outlet(s). So it is working as expected, it's just that the Central can't report back to the user that the outlet command was successfully accepted, but NOT applied due to the outlet overload restriction. This is in part due to the fact that SNMP is a UDP protocol.

          ATV6xx

          Environment
          All serial numbers for ATV6xx

          Cause
          N/A
