What is the Cutout size of the DBF45 Switchboard?

      335w x 631h x 80d inc wallboard
This is different to the old DBF45 which stated 491mm High.

Can the 681 switch fluorescent lights

Yes but only up to 19A

Is there a replacement for the Clipsal PC1

There is no replacement in the Clipsal range.  You could use the PDL 673MM in a PDL 681VH plate

What is the replacement for an old PDL PIR sensor 556 in a plate with auto / off / manual

Now obsolete, would have to use the PDL 100MPIR in a PDL 681VH plate

What is the part code for a Surge protection outlet in 15A

You can plate mount a surge module PDL600SM into any 600 series aparture that could be a 681VH plate or a 695X

What is the part code for a PDL 681VH with telephone mech but horizontal

The mechs are square so you just mount them the other way

What are the dimensions for the new PDL DBF45 and DBS45?

      Board Size - 376w x 666h x 100d   Hole Size - 335w x 631h x 80d inc wallboard

      Board Size
      - 376w x 666h x 115d   Hole Size - N/A

What is the part number for a PDL single gang grid and cover?

The part number for a PDL single gang grid and cover is a 681VH.
Some of the key features are:
      • Standard
      • also suitable for a 681M metal cover plate
      For further information please visit

Is the PDL 581 hinge flap mech the same as 600 series one

Yes the 681 hinge flap mechs are the same size

What is the dimensions for a PDL 681 1-Gang Switch ?

      Overall Dimensions - 118mm x 74mm
      Mounting Centres - 84mm

Are line chokes mandatory for ATV61 Drive?

Are line chokes mandatory for ATV61 Drive?

      Product Line:
      ATV 61

All Models , All serial numbers

      Line chokes are mandatory:
For ATV 61HU40M3…HU75M3 drives powered by a 200…240 V 50/60 Hz single phase supply voltage.
      For ATV 61HC11Y…HC80Y drives.
      For ATV 61QC13Y…QC80Y drives.
Their use is recommended for ATV 61H ... S6X and ATV 61HU30Y…HD90Y drives.
Line chokes can be used instead of a DC choke with ATV 61H ... M3 drives powered by a 200…240V 50/60 Hz three-phase supply voltage, and ATV 61H ... M3X and ATV 61 .... N4 drives.

Note: ATV 61HD90N4…HC63N4 drives, supplied as standard with a DC choke, can be ordered without a choke by adding the letter D at the end of the reference (see page 25 of "Variable speed drives Altivar 61 and Altivar 61 Plus Catalogue October 2011" ). Chokes must be installed upstream of the drive.  Applications The use of line chokes is recommended in particular under the following circumstances:  Close connection of several drives in parallel,  Line supply with significant disturbance from other equipment (interference, over-voltages) Line supply with voltage balance between phases that is more than 1.8% of the nominal voltage, Drive supplied by a line with very low impedance (in the vicinity of power transformers 10 times more powerful than the drive rating),  Installation of a large number of frequency inverters on the same line,  Reduction of overloads on the cos. capacitors, if the installation includes a power factor correction unit.

Refer to "Variable speed drives Altivar 61 and Altivar 61 Plus Catalogue October 2011" which can be found at   See Page 74 for Altivar 61:  Reduction of current harmonics using Line Chokes Presentation. Depending on the line supply, one of the main solutions for reducing current harmonics is the Line Choke.  A line choke can be used to provide improved protection against over-voltages on the line supply and to reduce harmonic distortion of the current produced by the drive. The recommended chokes limit the line current.  They have been developed in line with standard IEC 61800-5-1 (VDE 0160 level 1 high-energy over-voltages on the line supply).  The choke values are defined for a voltage drop between phases of between 3% and 5% of the nominal supply voltage. Values higher than this will cause loss of torque.

How do the PDL 600 and 800 series product codes work?

As a general rule of thumb -
PDL items require PDL at the front of the code.
600 series item codes start with 6.
600 series switch codes start with 68.
The number of switches fitted in the plate is the 3rd number in the code, 681 = single 600 series switch, 682 = double 600 series switch
600 series socket codes start with 69.
The 3rd digit in a socket code indicates the type of socket, 691 = single vertical socket, 692 = double vertical socket, 694 = single horizontal socket, 695 = double horizontal socket.
Most codes require a colour code at the end, WH = white, BK = black.
eg. To order a black double vertical switched socket the complete code would be PDL692BK.
800 series (Modena) item codes start with 8 and follow the same format as above. (800 series items with Strato plates start with S8...)
eg. An 800 series Modena double switch in white = PDL882WH, a Strato double horizontal switched socket in black = PDLS895BK
In both series metal cover plates are an extra option to be supplied separately, coded to fit the plate required, eg. 600 series single switch metal plate in Stainless Steel = PDL681MSS (M = Metal, BBZ = Brushed Bronze, PB = Polished Brass) Some plastic cover plates are available eg. PDL681CWH (C = Cover), PDL800PSCH (PS = Plastic Surround, CH = Champagne, there are 9 colour options in 800 series)
Strato brushed aluminium plates also need BK or WH to decide the trim colour, eg. PDLS800CBABK or PDLS800CBAWH (C = Cover , BA = Brushed Aluminium)
Module grids with covers are available in BK or WH, eg. PDL684VHWH (VH = vertical/horizontal since the grid is empty and module can be fitted either way), PDLS800GPSBK (GPS = Grid, Plate, & Surround).
Grids without covers included are only available in Modena 800 series, PDL800G (horizontal) or PDL800GV (vertical)
Refer for further details and options.
