Unlike other range of Micrologic the backlighting or display light of Micrologic 6.2 is not self powered by the primary current.

A separate external 24VDC power supply is required for the working of the backlight of Micrologic 6.2. For this, 24VDC power supply connector (LV434210) has to be used.

How do the PDL 600 and 800 series product codes work?

As a general rule of thumb -
PDL items require PDL at the front of the code.
600 series item codes start with 6.
600 series switch codes start with 68.
The number of switches fitted in the plate is the 3rd number in the code, 681 = single 600 series switch, 682 = double 600 series switch
600 series socket codes start with 69.
The 3rd digit in a socket code indicates the type of socket, 691 = single vertical socket, 692 = double vertical socket, 694 = single horizontal socket, 695 = double horizontal socket.
Most codes require a colour code at the end, WH = white, BK = black.
eg. To order a black double vertical switched socket the complete code would be PDL692BK.
800 series (Modena) item codes start with 8 and follow the same format as above. (800 series items with Strato plates start with S8...)
eg. An 800 series Modena double switch in white = PDL882WH, a Strato double horizontal switched socket in black = PDLS895BK
In both series metal cover plates are an extra option to be supplied separately, coded to fit the plate required, eg. 600 series single switch metal plate in Stainless Steel = PDL681MSS (M = Metal, BBZ = Brushed Bronze, PB = Polished Brass) Some plastic cover plates are available eg. PDL681CWH (C = Cover), PDL800PSCH (PS = Plastic Surround, CH = Champagne, there are 9 colour options in 800 series)
Strato brushed aluminium plates also need BK or WH to decide the trim colour, eg. PDLS800CBABK or PDLS800CBAWH (C = Cover , BA = Brushed Aluminium)
Module grids with covers are available in BK or WH, eg. PDL684VHWH (VH = vertical/horizontal since the grid is empty and module can be fitted either way), PDLS800GPSBK (GPS = Grid, Plate, & Surround).
Grids without covers included are only available in Modena 800 series, PDL800G (horizontal) or PDL800GV (vertical)
Refer pdl.co.nz for further details and options.

Enhancements to Security Wizard in ION Setup around Configuration for Time Synchronization with Advanced Security

Goals and Symptoms

Summary
It is possible to set up an ION meter with advanced security to simultaneously accept broadcast clock synchronizations but reject time sync packets sent by specific users.  This constitutes an obscure logical inconsistency between the general meter time synchronization settings and time synchronization settings per user when the meter is set to Advanced Security mode.  Note that the Advanced Security feature is only available on the ION 7650, ION 7550, and ION 8xxx Series Meters.  Meters set up using ION Setup versions 2.0 and 2.1 (up to build 662) will have a greater chance of containing this inconsistency due to the facts detailed below.  This article outlines the enhancements to the functionality of ION Setup 2.1 (build 663 and greater) to help avoid this issue.

Symptoms
With the introduction of ION Setup 2.0, the default setting for the meter in general  for time synchronization was Allow Broadcasting Time Synchronization = Yes, as illustrated in the screen shot below (Fig 1).

Fig 1. Advanced Options (Setup Assistant > Security > Security Mode > Edit > Advanced)

When the meter is configured for Advanced Security, there are individual user settings for time synchronization which can be set to be in logical conflict with the general Allow Broadcasting Time Synchronization meter setting mentioned above as show in Figure 2 below.

Fig 2. Individual Security Settings in Advanced Security Mode (Setup Assistant > Security > Security Mode > Edit > Advanced > Next)

Facts and Changes

Keywords
ION meter, ION 8500, ION 8400, ION 8300, ION 8600
Contradiction - conflict, difference, disagreement, discrepancy, negation
Inconsistent - exception, incongruity, irregularity, rarity, unconformity

Causes and Fixes

Cause
The logical inconsistency which is currently allowed by ION Setup without any intervention is the following:

Even though USER02 would be unable to issue a time synchronization when logged in as USER02, they would be able to time synchronize the meter by triggering an anonymous broadcast time synchronization.

Meters configured using ION Setup are more likely to contain this logical inconsistency in their settings if ION Setup 2.0 or ION Setup 2.1 (up to and including build 662) was used because the default setting for time synchronization is set to Allow Broadcasting Time Synchronization = Yes in this range of builds.

Resolution

    • (1)  The default setting for Allow Broadcasting Time Synchronization is now set to No for meters on which Advanced Security is enabled.
      (2)  If the user chooses to over-ride the default setting for Allow Broadcasting Time Synchronization and set it to Yes while, at the same time configuring certain individual users to Time Sync Access = No, ION Setup will generate the following pop-up message to highlight this inconsistency and give the opportunity to fix it:

Text of message is above screen shot:

WARNING: Allowing broadcast time synchronization contradicts having users without time sync access.

Do you wish to turn off Broadcast Time Syncs?

<Yes>  <No>  <Cancel>

More Information
Note that this resolution does not absolutely preclude the possibility that the meters settings still be allowed to include this logical inconsistency.  The user still has the freedom to set Allow Broadcasting Time Synchronization to Yes while, at the same time, configuring certain individual users to Time Sync Access = No.  The key advancement is that this inconsistency is now less likely because of better default settings and because inconsistency is clearly highlighted to the user in a pop-up message box.

This problem was brought to Schneider Electrics attention by the Independent Electricity Market Operator (IMO) for Ontario.

It is possible to use HMI as Remote Gateway for OPC Server access to connect PLCs on Remote side?

Until SoMachine V3.1 / VJD 6.1 it was possible to connect Remote PLC to an OPC Server by using the remote HMI as Gateway.

With VJD 6.2 SP 2.x this was not any more working, because of an issue inside the VJD runtime.

But in VJD 6.2 SP3 it is fixed and can be used again.

What registers is the IP address of a PM8 with PM8ECC stored?

The IP address of the Ethernet Option Module is stored in registers 622 and 623.
Register format:
1st Register High byte: IP Address 1st Octet
1st Register Low byte: IP Address 2nd Octet
2nd Register High byte: IP Address 3rd Octet
2nd Register Low byte: IP Address 4th Octet

Range:
000.000.000.000 to 255.255.255.255

Example:
In this example we are assuming that the PM800 we are reading has a current IP configuration of 10.168.96.17

1. Read registers 622 and 623

2. Convert the register data into binary format:
Register 622: 2728 dec = 101010101000 bin
Register 623: 24593 dec = 110000000010001 bin

3. Convert the binary data into High and Low bytes for each register:
Register 622: 1010 10101000
High byte = 1010 = 00001010
Low byte = 10101000

Register 623: 1100000 00010001
High byte = 1100000 = 01100000
Low byte = 00010001

4. Convert the High and Low Bytes back to decimal format:
Register 622:
High byte = 00001010 bin = 10 dec
Low byte = 10101000 bin = 168 dec

Register 623:
High byte = 01100000 bin = 96 dec
Low byte = 00010001 bin = 17 dec

IP address = 10.168.96.17

Note: You can use the same procedure to determine the IP Subnet Mask and IP Router Address which are contained in the following registers.
IP Subnet Mask: 624 and 625
IP Router Address: 626 and 627
