Can AR7715 or AR7725 be Used with Other Side Airflow equipment?

Issue:
There are side airflow devices other than the Cisco models noted for AR7715 and AR7725 that require a duct kit.

Product Line:
NetShelter SX

Environment:
All models and serial ranges.

Cause:
Customers may want to use a side airflow duct kit with equipment it was not specifically designed for.

Resolution:
The AR7715 and AR7725 Side Air Flow Duct Kits are designed specifically for use with Cisco's side airflow switches.
AR7715 is designed to be used with Catalyst 6509, 6509E, 6513 and the MDS 9509 and 9513 Multilayer Directors.
AR7725 is designed to be used with Nexus 7009.

In general, when recommending a side airflow duct kit for equipment other than the Cisco products listed above we recommend using AR7725. The AR7725 is not as tall as AR7715 and it does not have a mounting rail required for the equipment, as the AR7715 does. To insure proper operation the airflow path should be similar to the Cisco models with similar chassis dimensions: 14U x 17.3" W x 24" D. Installing equipment that's not as tall or deep may result in the need of foam and/or duct tape to close off open spaces between the equipment and the duct.

The AR7715 can also be used with other Cisco 6500 series (such as a 6506) and 9500 series switches, but all components of the kit will not be used. The rear baffle connecting the top and bottom duct cannot be installed without field modification, because the other switches in this family are smaller. This is not a concern, since the smaller switches also have significantly lower airflow requirements. The top and bottom duct alone will supply the smaller switches with sufficient airflow. The height of the AR7715 is adjustable from 24.49" to 33.35".

If you have any further questions or inquiries please contact Schneider Electric, ITB Technical Support.

How to join two strings with result more than 16 characters in Unity Pro.

By default the maximum characters allowed for the STRING data type is only 16. It can be increased to 65534 ASCII characters.

For this select the data type as STRING [<size>], where size denotes an unsigned integer (UINT) capable of defining a string between 1 and 65534 ASCII characters.

The result will be displayed in 16 characters only. However, the maximum characters it can contain will be the one defined in it's data type.

Does the 554C4 have new 4 single screw connectors instead of the original two screw connectors?

Over the coming months, the terminal connectors supplied with a number of Electrical Accessories will be changing. These changes are:

  1. The screw type in the connector will suit either a No. 2 Philips Drive or a No 1 Square Drive screwdriver.

  1. Terminal connectors will now be square wrapper design, ensuring reliable connection.

  1. All connectors will now be supplied with single screw. This is fully compliant with AS/NZS3000:2007 as per clause (d) below from sub-section 2.9.4. for active, neutral and earth connections.
(d) a neutral conductor used as a combined protective earthing and neutral (PEN) conductor for protective earthing of any portion of an electrical installation, the terminal shall be of a type having—
  1. two screws; or
  2. one screw with an outside diameter not less than 80% of the tunnel diameter.

How to determine which firmware to install on the 66074 NMC is by the color of the PCB

Product line:
66074/34003640SE Network Management Card (NMC)

Environment:
All versions

Cause:
The hardware revision of the card determines which firmware package can be loaded.

Resolution:
The simplest way to determine which firmware to install on the 66074 NMC is by the color of the PCB.  The original 66074 NMC was green and the newest version of the 66074 NMC is blue.

If the NMC cannot be removed or is located remotely the NMC firmware can be determined by accessing the NMC web interface and click on "About UPS".  If the NMC has firmware AX to GX (X being any letter from A to Z) it is the original 66074NMC.   The latest or blue board has firmware IA or above which is currently KD.  You must use the correct firmware for the NMC installed.  The UPGRADE tool used to update the firmware will not allow you to update the wrong firmware.  If you have issue updating the firmware then check the firmware on the NMC and the firmware you are uploading are compatible.

How to change the display settings of energy units from MWh to kWh in ME Meter.

Depending on the ME meter version, meter will automatically select the appropriate units and therefore it is not possible to modify the energy units. From 40/5 to 150/5 CT ratio, the energy unit display is KWh and from 200/5 to 6000/5 CT ratio, the energy unit display is MWh.

CT Setting:
To change the CT settings hold down the button on the Front Face of the ME Meter for more than 5 sec when on the CT Rating display. After approximately 5 sec the display will start blinking, now enter the CT setting. Once again hold the button till the display stop flashing, to ensure that the entry is saved.

Why is my Back-UPS ES giving a Constant tone with the Power on LED flashing?

Issue:

Why is my Back-UPS ES giving a Constant tone with the Power on LED flashing?

Product Line:

BACK-UPS ES

Environment:

BE350G, BE450G, BE550G, BE650G1 and BE750G

Cause:

If this is a new installation confirm that the internal battery was connected properly.

Refer to the user manual for instructions on this procedure.

The Back-UPS ES performs an internal self-test every 14 days, the internal self-test checks the integrity of the battery. If the battery fails the self-test, the Power on LED will flash and the unit will emit a constant tone. This is a WARNING that the battery may be near the end of its life, replacement is typically recommended within 2-4 weeks.

Resolution:

Step 1:

Verify that the UPS is not being overloaded:

- The Back-UPS ES 350 can support 350VA or 200Watts on the battery powered outlets.

- The Back-UPS ES 450 can support 450VA or 257Watts on the battery powered outlets.

- The Back-UPS ES 550 can support 550VA or 330Watts on the battery powered outlets.

- The Back-UPS ES 650 can support 650VA or 390Watts on the battery powered outlets.

- The Back-UPS ES 750 can support 750VA or 450Watts on the battery powered outlets.

APC recommends plugging only the computer and monitor in the battery powered outlets, other peripherals should be plugged into the ""Surge Only"" outlets on the labeled on the the UPS. Outlet strips or surge protectors should NEVER be plugged into any UPS. Remove any excessive load from the UPS. On the same note if the Back-UPS ES is close to being fully loaded (>80% of the battery outlet’s watt capacity) it is not recommended that the Back-UPS ES be used as a master on/off switch to turn on your equipment. Instead power the Back-UPS ES on, letting it complete its self-test before turning on the connected equipment.

Step 2:

A self test should be performed with the UPS fully charged (charging without interruption or transfer to battery for 5 hours) and normal load attached. To do this, power down all equipment attached to the battery outlets. Then reboot the Back-UPS ES by turning it off then count to 5 and power it back on. If the constant tone clears, then it was a false onbattery condition and the unit has been reset. It now is ready to be used again. Proceed to step 3 if it does not clear.

Step 3: (proceed only if "step 2" does not clear the Replace Battery Condition)

The Back-UPS ES comes with a 3 year warranty which includes the internal battery. If the Back-UPS ES was purchased within 3 years, please contact APC Support and reference the steps performed in this document. Also include the exact part number and serial number found on the bottom of the Back-UPS ES.

If the Back-UPS ES is outside of the 3 year warranty, click HERE for upgrade and battery replacement options
