Compatibility Information for Symmetra Power Array 3:1 Modules

Issue

Only specific modules are compatible with Symmetra Power Array 3:1 systems.

Product Line

Symmetra Power Array

Environment

All serial ranges in above product line

Cause

Due to hardware and firmware changes necessary to make the Symmetra Power Array 3:1 system function properly, it requires specific intelligence modules and power modules.

Resolution

The Symmetra Power Array 3:1 has new power modules as well as new main and redundant intelligence modules.  You will need to ensure that the modules you are installing are compatible using the following information.

The new power modules will work in both the Symmetra Power Array 3:1 and the Symmetra Power Array 1:1  The part number is still the same (SYPM). The new SYPM is identifiable as it has a different Firmware Revision number and frame color compared to the old SYPM. The MIM tells the SYPM to work in single phase mode or 3 phase mode.

How to Identify a SYPM that is compatible with Symmetra Power Array 3:1:

  • Serial numbers begins CD9910 or later
  • The new SYPM's Firmware Revision is  rev 300 or higher.
  • The new SYPM has a dark gray colored frame, the old SYPM has a bright silver colored frame.
  • On the front of the SYPM, to the left of the fan you will see the specifications sticker (approvals and operating parameters). This sticker has a silver color on the new SYPM and a cream color on the old SYPM.

Please Note:  The old SYPM's will not work in the Symmetra Power Array 3:1. If an old SYPM is put into a Symmetra 3:1 it will not turn on and will be reported as off and failed by SYMIM2 in PowerView. The following table shows what is supported:

SYPM FRAME COMPATIBILITY
SYPM (old version) 1:1 SUPPORTED
SYPM (new version) 1:1 SUPPORTED
SYPM (old version) 3:1 NOT SUPPORTED

General Tips for Reading Modbus registers from micrologic 6.0 P devices

Answer

Issue:

Having troubles reading the modbus registers from the devices micrologic 6.0 P

Product Line:

Micrologic 6.0P

Environment:

modscan and kepserver; micrologic's menu; Micrologic_RCU

Cause:

EXAMPLE:
*can read the registers from the directions 400000 (300000) until the directions 401000 (or 301000) using a software for PC (modscan and kepserver). Those directions give us some information about baud rate, node, and other communications parameters.
*When trying to read the registers farther of the direction 401000 (301000), returned values are only "32768". More precisely, many registers before the direction 401000 (301000) also read the same.
* There's an option in the micrologic's menu that can't be changed and this is the next: "remote access = NO". It has an "access code= 0000". This also cannot be changed. In the user's guide, its says that "if you want to enable this option you need to call to your sales manager".
* downloaded software from the schneider's webpage called Micrologic_RCU, this software permit us read parameters as currents, power factors (PF's), voltages and the different kinds of power. Don`t know why if this software can read the micrologics's registers why the other ones not. I attach a document where you can see my readings with the readings using the modscan and the readings using Micrologic_RCU.

Resolution:

1. NOT all Modbus registers in use for Micrologic P. For example: value "32768" simply means that it is NOT applicable from register 560 to 571, 578 to581, or 585 to 586 in Micrologic 6.0P

2. Remote setting could be only modified locally via Micrologic P display. It is in Com. setup menu under "History, maintenance and setup" (Wrench sign). Access permit and Access code could be changed here in Remote settings.

3. In the same way, remote control could be only modified locally too. It is in Remote setup menu under "History, maintenance and setup" (Wrench sign). Remote control is set as "manual" by default because the breaker could be close/open by mistake if it is in "Auto" mode to enable it.

4. Those values of currents, power factors (PF's), voltages, and the different kinds of power could be viewed via RCU as well as any other Modbus software as long as you read the right Modbus register number. For example: Using Modscan32, input Address = 1016 (register number); Length = 1; select your Device ID and holding register, you will receive 41016: = . This value represents the phase A current in amps.

5. When opening communication of RCU, it will enable remote access automatically for Micrologic P. It is recommended to use Micrologic software like RCU, RDU, or RSU rather than the third party software to work with Micrologic P or H type relay.

What are the Supported Programming Languages in RemoteConnect x70 Logic Editor ?

What are the Supported Programming Languages in RemoteConnect x70 Logic Editor?
The following IEC 61131-3 logic languages are available for SCADAPack x70 device platforms:
·Function Block Diagram (FBD)
·Structured Text (ST)
·Ladder Diagram (LD)
·Instruction List (IL)
·Sequential Function Chart (SFC)
SCADAPack x70 devices do not support LL984 logic programming.

Functional Block Diagram (FBD):
The FBD editor is used for graphical function block programming according to IEC 61131-3.
The Function Block Diagram is a graphic language used to build complex procedures from a library of functions.
Standard library functions such as math and logic may be combined with custom library functions such as serial port control, PID controls and to create Function Block Diagram application programs.

Structured Text (ST):
Structured Text is a high-level structured language, an ST program (Structured Text) consists of a list of statements that are executed in sequence by the controller.
Using these statements, you can call function blocks, functions and procedures conditionally or unconditionally, make assignments, execute statements explicitly, repeat statements and execute jumps conditionally or unconditionally within a section.

Ladder Diagram (LD):
Ladder Diagram is a graphic language combining contacts and coils to build logical discrete control procedures. This language is identical to the relay ladder logic used by many programmable Logic RTUs.
The structure of an LD program corresponds to a rung for relay switching.
The left power rail is located on the left side of the LD editor.
This left power rail corresponds to the phase (L conductor) of a rung.
With LD programming, in the same way as in a rung, only the LD objects which are linked to a power supply, connected with the left power rail, are "processed".
The right power rail corresponds to the neutral conductor.
All contacts and FFB inputs must be directly or indirectly connected with the left power rail and all coils and FFB outputs must be directly or indirectly connected with the right power rail to allow current flow.
A group of connected objects that are not connected to other objects (except for the power rails), is called a network or rung.

Instruction List (IL):
Instruction List (IL) is one of the 5 languages supported by the initial versions of IEC 61131-3 standard, it is designed for programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and RTUs, it is a low-level language and resembles assembly.
An IL program (Instruction List) consists of a list of statements that are executed in sequence by the controller.
Using these statements, you can call function blocks, functions and procedures conditionally or unconditionally, process assignments and jumps conditionally or unconditionally within a section.

Sequential Function Chart (SFC):
It is a graphic language used to describe sequential operations in a process.
The process is graphically partitioned into a set of well-defined steps containing actions performed using other languages.
Steps are linked together with conditional transitions.
This language is useful for batch processes and process procedures such as automatic startup and shut down.
IEC conforming sequential control is created from SFC sections (top-level), transition sections and action sections.
SFC sections are only permitted in the project's master task.
SFC sections cannot be used in other tasks or DFBs.
Each SFC section contains one or more SFC networks (sequences).

Is ION Enterprise 5.6 compatible with Microsoft Office XP or 2000?

Microsoft (MS) Office XP or 2000 are older versions of the MS Office suite. The Commissioning Guide for ION Enterprise recommends Excel 2003 as a minimum version and the earlier versions have not been tested by the Software department, however, there are customers who have successfully installed MS Office 2000 and ION Enterprise 5.6 together. If there are any problems using an older version of Office, the resolution is to upgrade to Office 2003.

What is the sequence of upgrading ION Enterprise 5.5 and SQL 2000 to ION Enterprise 5.6 and SQL 2005?

The sequence to follow should be:

  1. Upgrade ION Enterprise 5.5 to 5.6 first, leaving SQL 2000 intact.
  2. Check that the system is working properly and as expected. Check historic logging, in particular.
  3. After checking the Enterprise system, upgrade SQL 2000 to SQL 2005.

Each step might have different scenarios, therefore please refer to relevant upgrade path which fits to the existing system.
