Eclipse Functionality: When I log into the Eclipse web site (Schneider Electric Services web site) my screen does weird things. What should I do?

Goals and Symptoms

Eclipse Functionality: When I log into the Eclipse web site (Schneider Electric Services web site) my screen does weird things. What should I do to fix this?

Facts and Changes

Types of "weird" or problem web behavior includes but is not limited to:

  • Inability to login (no error given and no change in screen for example)
  • No change in the screen after following a link
  • Distorted text and/or images
  • Blank screens
  • Characters or numbers where text should be

Causes and Fixes

There is a common solution for fixing many errors that may occur when you are viewing web pages on the Schneider Electric Services web site (Eclipse). The solution is to disable caching in the web browser used to view the site. This resolution explains why you should do this and how to do it in both Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers.

ABOUT CACHING:Many web browsers come pre-configured to cache or store the web pages that you visit in order to speed future page load time. This works well for web pages that don't change much, but is problematic for site's containing lot's of data that changes frequently. The Schneider Electric Services web site contains large amounts of dynamic data-driven content. For best results, you want to set your web browser to display new content as soon as it becomes available to you.

CHANGING YOUR BROWSER SETTINGS:
MS Internet Explorer

  • from a menu select "Tools" for IE5+ or "View" for IE4
  • select "Internet Options"
  • click on "Delete Files" under "Temporary Internet Files"
  • in "Temporary Internet Files" section click on "Settings"
  • select "Every visit to the page" for "Check for newer versions of stored pages"
  • save the settings
  • restart your browser

Netscape Navigator
  • select "Edit" from the menu bar
  • select "Preferences"
  • from "Category" tree expand "Advanced"
  • click on "cache"
  • select radio button "Every Time" for "Document in cache is ..."
  • save the settings
  • restart your browser

PME9.0 Web Applications Error when adding subscriptions "An unexpected error has occurred. Your request cannot be processed at this time. If the problem persists, contact the Webpage administrator".

Issue
The following error occurs when clicking on Add Subscription  in PME Web Application-->Reports --> Manage subscriptions

"An unexpected error has occurred. Your request cannot be processed at this time. If the problem persists, contact the Webpage administrator".
An error will appear in the System Event log in the Management Console: Could Not Authenticate

Product Line
Power Monitoring  Expert 9.x

Environment
PME side by side migration to 9.x

Cause
When clicking on Add subscriptions, Web Applications needs to authenticate IONUser (the windows user that is created at the time of installation). In the case of system migration, a domain user from the old server could be authenticated and failed instead of the IONUser. No errors would appear in Event Viewer Application nor System. However, the following error pops up in Event Viewer Security.
