Video: APC AV S & J Type Power Conditioner w/ Battery Back-up - Brain Dead Procedure and Cold Start Procedure.

Issue:
UPS will not operate on utility power or may be displaying unusual characteristics.

Product Line:
APC AV Power Conditioners with Battery Back-UP
Models: J10, J10BLK, J15, J15BLK, S10, S10BLK, S15, S15BLK and S20BLK

Cause:
This may be caused by one of the

Environment:
UPS is not operating as designed following conditions;
  • Improper Voltage
  • Poor power quality

Resolution:
The following video details the process for the Brain Dead (Logic Reset) and Cold Start of AV Power Conditioners.

Telephone/DSL Splitter of the S15 & S15BLK, AV Power Conditioner w/ Battery Backup.

Issue:

The S15, Power Conditioner with Battery Backup has a Telephone/DSL line splitter, along with COAX and Ethernet surge protection

Product Line:

S-Type Power Conditioner w/ Battery Back-up.

Environment:

S15, S15BLK

Cause / Resolution:

The Telephone/DSL splitter will accept a 2-line 4-wire telephone connection and splits it off into two separate telephone lines. When a telephone connection comprised of two separate telephone lines, is connected to the Telephone/DSL splitter, line ONE will be split to ""Out A""(pins 2&3) and line TWO will be split to ""Out B""(pins 2&3).

The Telephone/DSL splitter DOES NOT split a single 1-line 2-wire connection.

Note:
On a standard telephone connection, a customer can have a maximum of two separate telephone lines/numbers. Line ONE is between (pins 2&3) of the RJ-11 connection. Line TWO (this only applies to customers who have requested a second line from the telephone company) would be between (pins 1&4).&

EMI/RFI Filtering of the S-Type, AV Power Conditioners w/Battery Backup.

Issue:

What type of EMI/RFI filtering does the S-Type, AV Power Conditioners w/Battery Backup have?

Product Line:

S10 / S15
S10BLK / S15BLK / S20BLK

Environment:

N/A

Cause / Resolution:

The S-Type, AV Power Conditioners w/Battery Backup provide application-specific EMI/RFI isolated filter banks, which help to improve audio and video signaling.

• Filter Banks improve sound and video for systems affected by electro-magnetic and radio frequency interference on the AC utility line.

• Banks are isolated to prevent device noise from polluting other connected components.

• Each filter bank is specifically tuned to filter noise for a particular class of component. Specific filter banks are provided for Digital, Analog and High-Current components.

• Unlike filters from many competitors, APC’s High-Current filter also protects high-powered amplifiers and subwoofers, without compromising their ability to draw high currents during periods of peak sound output. It is not necessary to plug an amplifier into a separate wall outlet.

Video: Battery Installation of APC AV Power Conditioners with Battery Back-Up

Issue:
How to install and connect the battery in a APC Power Conditioner with Battery Back-Up at first time start-up or following routine battery replacement.

Product Line:
APC AV Power Conditioners with Battery Back-UP
S20BLK
S15BLK
S10BLK
J15BLK
J10BLK

Environment:
All models and serial number ranges.

Cause:
Battery must be installed and connected for proper device protection during power outages and interruptions. This is most common upon initial set-up or following a routine replacement of an end-of-life battery.

Resolution:
In accordance with APC’s interpretation of U.S. Department of Transportation regulations, APC ships this device with the internal battery pack disconnected. The front bezel of the unit is also not attached to the unit when shipped. This procedure provides for connection of the battery when the front bezel has been prematurely installed onto the chassis. Connect the internal battery pack as follows:

1. Grasp the front panel at the sides (Figure 4), and pull the front bezel from the unit.

2. Push the Battery Wire Connector (Figure 5) into the hole located at the left of the Battery Pack. Ensure that the Battery Wire Connector is pushed into the hole and securely connected by gently pulling on the wire to see if it is attached to the connector.

3. Install the battery retaining bar.

4. Install the front Bezel (Figure 6), by aligning the four pins located on the back-side of the Bezel to the holes at the left and right sides of the unit. Gently push the front Bezel onto the unit.
