      A user may wish to hardwire the input/output of the UPS rather than use the supplied input power cord.

      Resolution:
      APC offers a hardwire kit to be used with the 120/208 Matrix-UPS product. The part #s for these kits are as follows:

      MXA001: 5kVA Hardwire kit
      MXA002: 3kVA Hardwire kit

      These hardwire kits replace the standard back plate and allows the input and output of the Matrix to be wired directly to their corresponding electrical panels. This kit provides 120V, 208V and 240V on the output. The electrical specifications for both the Matrix 3kVA and Matrix 5kVA UPS systems are as follows:

      How do I replace the batteries in my SURT or SRT series Smart-UPS?

      Cause:
      The average life span of a battery module is 3-5 years depending on environment and usage. For best performance the ambient temperature should be 68-77 degrees Fahrenheit. Replacing battery modules is a quick and easy process and can be performed without turning off the UPS. Please note that while you do not have to power down the UPS, you will not have any battery back up protection for the short period when no batteries are installed in the UPS.

      Resolution:
      All SURT and SRT units 3kva or larger use the APCRBC140 RBC Kit (This RBC kit replaced the older RBC44. APCRBC140 can be used in SRT or SURT unit, RBC44 only work in SURT)
      One APCRBC140 includes two battery modules
      3kva-6kva units use ONE APCRBC140 kit (Two Modules)
      8kva-10kva units use TWO APCRBC140 kits (Four Modules)

      To replace your batteries:
      • Remove the plastic bezel from the front of the UPS by pulling it off straight towards you
      • Remove the screws that hold the protective metal battery bay covers in place.
        • On 3-6kva units - Slide the cover to the left, then open like a door
        • On 8-10kva units - The bay covers come  off of the unit entirely
      • Disconnect the battery connectors by pulling straight out towards you
      • Slide the modules out of the UPS one by one. Be careful - They're heavy
      • Once all modules are removed, repeat these steps in reverse order to install new batteries
      • When the new batteries are installed, run a self test to clear any "Replace Battery" alarms

      This event may be caused by a blown charger fuse, or bad batteries.
       
      Resolution:
      To determine the cause of this behavior, perform the following troubleshooting steps:
      • With the UPS input connected to AC mains, disconnect all the batteries in the system: all internal batteries and any external batteries, if used.
      • Go to the Status section on the display and under Battery, check Voltage.
      Note: You do not need to perform measurements on the UPS battery terminals.
      • If the voltage displayed on the UPS display is below the “Voltage level” (refer to the below values), the charger fuse is blown and the UPS requires replacement.
      • If the voltage displayed on the UPS display is at, or above, the “Voltage level, the batteries need to be replaced.

      MF-63103, MF-63123 to M400, or M800 Wiring Instructions (Airflow)

      The below  schematic works for M400 & M800 actuators.  The system needs a 30VA transformer for the new actuator.  The actuator dipswitches need to be adjusted for Floating [24v open & 24v close] dipswitches 1 & 2 on and the rest off. 

      Manual Operation
      There is a red manual operation handle on the actuator, see figure 2.  When it is lowered, the motor stops. Then the actuator can be operated manually if the handle is turned.

      - When to implement surge suppressors :

      If the LED is exposed to high voltage, short term spikes such as those created when large coils are de-energised ( solenoids, large contactor etc.) then damage may occur to the circuitry, causing a premature failure of the device. This damage can also occur where the inrush to the coil is high.

      The catalogue characteristics state that where the pilot light is fitted directly in parallel across an inductive coil, the inrush of the coil must not exceed 30VA. Remember that the inrush of the coil is usually very high compared to the nominal power consumption.
      If this value of 30VA is exceeded, then a suppressor block must be used in conjunction with the pilot light. It is also advisable to fit suppression across the inductive load to reduce the back emf produced.


      - How to implement surge suppressors :
      Connect the suppressor in parallel with the LED block.


      - Which surge suppressors to implement :
      ZBVJ* and ZBVB* => mostly used on 12Vdc or 24Vdc, the inductive loads are generaly low. However it is recommended to implement a freewheel diode. You can use the ZBZG156 which includes a diode.
      ZBVG* (110...120Vac) => Use ZBZVG (maximum power of coil 120VA).
      ZBVBG* (24...120V ac/dc) and ZBVM* (230Vac) => Use ZBZVM (maximum power of coil 230VA).


      For coils with a power above the suppressors limitation, use a dedicated suppressors on the coil itself:
      Freewheel diodes for DC applications.
      Bidirectionnal diodes or varistors for AC applications.
