Can I integrate 3rd party products through serial to a C-Bus touchscreen

While the serial ports on the C-Bus touchscreens can recieve RS232 strings, they do not translate these strings natively to C-Bus commands like what the C-Bus serial interface does (5500PC)

The serial ports on the C-Bus touchscreens are generally used to control 3rd party devices such as serial enabled DVD players.

How do I configure a Lexium32M PTO output for encoder simulation when the Lexium32M is in combination with a 3rd party motor?

Customer using Lexium 32M with 3rd party motor configuration may have applications which require an encoder simulation signal (Esim) as feedback to the PLC for closing the position loop.

When using the Lexium32M with 3rd party motor the PTO mode needs to be configured for ESIM pAct Enc2 instead of ESIM pAct Enc1.
This is due to the fact that the 3rd party motors encoder is using encoder channel 2 for feedback.
If ESIM pAct Enc1 is selected no pulses will be present on the PTO output, therefore when using a 3rd party motor you must choose ESIM pAct Enc2.

See the attached image file to aid in configuration of the parameters.

R036_How to configure a TesysT on Profibus with Siemens Step7

Goals and Symptoms

This document will describe you how to configure TeSysT on a network Profibus with a PLC Siemens S300 station. The CPU is a CPU 315 - 2 DP with Profibus port embedded.

We use Simatic S7, STEP 7 V5.4 SP3. Into Simatic you have two sub-softwares to configure the Profibus Network : NetPro and HW Config.
NetPro: you define which kind of product you need on your Profibus network (TesysU, TesysT…)
HW Config:

    • PLC hardware configuration
Configuration for each device Network (TesysT with or without expension module, which control unit for TesysU and which information you want to exchange on the network)

Does Lexium32M limit the maximum voltage applied to a 3rd party motor winding?

No, when using a 3rd party motor with Lexium32M it is the user's responsibility to operate the Lexium 32 drive from a mains voltage within the range of the 3rd party motor being used.

For example, if a 3rd party motor connected to the Lexium32 drive has a ,maximum voltage rating of 300vac then the mains voltage applied to the Lexium32 should not be higher then 300vac.
By comparison, if the Lexium32 drive was connected to 480vac this would exceed the motor manufacturers design specifications for insulation within the winding, connectors, terminal....ect. and would not be recommended and could result in motor failure and or a hazardous situation due to insulation rating of the motor.

What can cause an output phase fault on an ATV312 or ATV31?

Issue:
Output Phase Fault (OPF) on Altivar 31 or 312 Drives

Product Line:
ATV312
ATV31

Environment:
All models and serial numbers

Cause:
This fault occurs when the drive has been commanded to run the motor but no or very little output current is detected by the drive.

Resolution:
Verify that the all three motor leads are properly connected to the drive.  Determine if there is a disconnect at the motor that could be open or a contactor between the drive and the motor that has not closed.  Loss of one leg or a significant imbalance of current between legs will cause the drive to signal output phase loss. The motor and motor leads should be Megger tested at 1,000 volts.
In some applications small motors are used and their current draw is below what the drive considers normal based on the motor information programmed in the drive.  The output phase loss detection can be disabled if there is no impact to the application.
