My smoke alarm is beeping. What can I do?

The recommended steps are:

  1. Detach the top of the smoke alarm from its base, remove the battery and hold the ‘test’ button until the alarm is no longer beeping. This completely discharges the smoke alarm for a guaranteed reset.
  2. Vacuum the vents.
  3. Spray bug surface repellent on a rag then wipe over the unit and surrounding ceiling.
  4. Hold the test button for 20 seconds which will reset the unit.
  5. If the above fails and it is within the warranty period, you can replace the unit by lodging a warranty form via clipsal.com/warranty (Note: If it is out of warranty, you will need to pay to replace it.)

Remember smoke alarms are there for a reason, so ensure you’re safe at all times.
