          ClearSCADA: WebX upgrade in ClearSCADA 2015 R1, 2015 R2 and 2017

ClearSCADA's new WebX server installs differently depending on the version of ClearSCADA that you have:

Starting with ClearSCADA 2015 R1, a new WebX server has been included in the ClearSCADA software package along with the original WebX client.  This new WebX server utilizes the Internet Information Services Manager (IIS) in order to facilitate its connection.  ClearSCADA users may choose to view WebX by way of either the original WebX client or by way of a WebX client connection to the new WebX server.

ClearSCADA 2015 R1 featured ClearSCADA Mobile and the new WebX bundled into a single feature. Bundling them together was found to be less flexible and reliable as opposed to having these features separated.

ClearSCADA 2015 R2 had both ClearSCADA Mobile and the new WebX separated, however the Mobile Companion still had to be tied to a Web server. Hence it was actually tied to the old Web server components and was installed along with it. This would be why it was not in the list as a separate feature in 2015 R2 (Control Panel | Programs and Features).

Starting from ClearSCADA 2017 the total separation of the two components was completed and the new WebX started to appear as a separate feature (in Control Panel | Programs and Features).

Prior to ClearSCADA 2015 R1, WebX installed quietly as part of the standard ClearSCADA installation (full or standard installation).

Starting with ClearSCADA 2015 R1, the installer runs through the installation of most of the ClearSCADA components first, then it runs through the installation of the new WebX component.  The user is prompted to install the new WebX upon completion of the installation of the other ClearSCADA components (CS server, data access components, ViewX, etc).

A user simply needs to start the installation process by selecting the "Install ClearSCADA " option from the splash screen (valid for ClearSCADA 2015 R1, ClearSCADA 2015 R2 and ClearSCADA 2017).  These screens look as follows:

Starting with ClearSCADA 2017 R2, the new WebX component installation has been moved to its own installer.  This is covered in a separate knowledge base article; FA366071 ClearSCADA: Configuring the new WebX in ClearSCADA 2017 R2.

How Does Tenant Metering Software Commercial Edition (TMSCE) Calculate 15, 30, or 60 Minute Rolling Demand?

If the data is collected on a 15 minute interval, there is no difference between rolling demand and present demand. Data that is collected on a 5 minute interval is the average of the current interval and the previous two. For example, if the data is measure at 2:00, 2:05, 2:10, 2:15, 2:20, 2:25, and 2:30, the rolling demand for 2:20 would be the average of the readings taken at 2:10, 2:15, and 2:20.
With 15 minute interval data, the 30 minute rolling demand is calculated by averaging the previous demand interval with the current one. For example, data is taken at 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45, and 3:00. The 30 minute rolling demand for 2:45 is the average of the demand readings at 2:30 and 2:45.

With 15 minute interval data, the 60 minute rolling demand is calculated by averating the current demand interval with the previous three. For example, data is taken at 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45, 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, and 3:45. The 60 minute rolling demand for 3:15 is the average of the demand readings at 2:30, 2:45, 3:00, and 3:15.

          How to upgrade ClearSCADA Mobile?

ClearSCADA Mobile installs differently depending on the version of ClearSCADA that is being used:

ClearSCADA 2015 R1 featured ClearSCADA Mobile and WebX bundled into a single feature.

ClearSCADA 2015 R2 had both ClearSCADA Mobile and WebX separated, however, the Mobile Companion still had to be tied to a Web server.  Hence it was actually tied to the old We server components and was installed along with it.

Starting from ClearSCADA 2017, the total separation of the two components (ClearSCADA Mobile and WebX) was completed.

ClearSCADA Mobile needs to be upgraded after an upgrade of ClearSCADA takes place. To upgrade ClearSCADA Mobile, the following steps need to be followed:

Upgrading from ClearSCADA Mobile 2015 R1 to ClearSCADA Mobile 2015 R2
          1. Make a backup of your existing Mobile configuration by making a copy of the "MobileConfig.sdf" file located in "C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA Mobile"
            • This file contains the license information and configuration of the systems and devices
            • Keep a copy of this file in a different location in case it is needed
          2. Uninstall the existing version ClearSCADA Mobile from Windows Control Panel -> Programs and Features
            • Please note that your Mobile configuration should stay untouched even after removing ClearSCADA Mobile as long as the MobileConfig.sdf file is present at the original location
          3. Launch Microsoft Internet Information Services Manager and make sure that "ClearScadaMobile" site is not present
            • If the site is still present after uninstalling ClearSCADA Mobile, remove it manually by right clicking on it and selecting "Remove"
            • Please note that if you are upgrading from ClearSCADA 2015 R1, the mobile site is a part of the "ClearSCADA" site
          4. Launch ClearSCADA installer and select "Install ClearSCADA Mobile" to install the new version of the software and follow the installation steps
          5. Once installed, launch ClearSCADA Mobile Configuration to make sure your original configuration is still present

Upgrading from ClearSCADA Mobile 2015 R2 or newer

The above steps do not need to be followed when upgrading ClearSCADA Mobile from version 2015 R2 or newer (i.e. 2017, 2017 R2).  Simply run the installer from the splash screen as shown in the screen shot below

Is it possible to change how Lexium 23 responds to alarm 014 or alarm 015 when reaching the end of travel limit switches?

Reaching end of travel limit switches will always result in a stop of motion and the respective alarm code being displayed.
This behavior is firmware related and can not be modified.
There are no provisions to change this behavior.

When Lexium 23 reaches the end of travel limit swiches it responds by stopping motion and displaying alarm 014 or alarm 015, depending on the direction of travel when reaching the limit switch.
To recover from this event you must reset the alarm and then create movement in the opposite direction of the limit switch that has been reached.

For the BCPM product, what is the LVCT burden (or the apparent power capacity)?

          Product Line
BCPM, the LVCT (Low Voltage Current Transformer)

          Low Voltage Current Transformer Specification

The BCPM uses 1/3 V output split-core CTs for the auxiliary inputs
The 1/3 Volt low-voltage CT specifications are:
Accuracy: 1% from 10% to 100% of rated current
          Frequency range: 50/60 Hz
          Operating temperature Range: -15° C - 60° C
          Storage temperature Range: -40° C - 70°C
          Humidity range: 0 - 95% non-condensing
Leads: 18 AWG, 600 Vac, UL 1015 twisted pair, 1.8m standard length
Max. Voltage L-N: sensed conductor 600 Vac

The apparent power capacity (or burden rating) doesn't really apply since these are voltage output devices (rather than current mode like traditional Current Transformers). This is one of the great advantages of voltage mode CT (the other being they don't need shorting blocks). The voltage mode CT has an internal burden resistor, usually tens of ohms or less. The input of the meter monitoring the voltage mode CT typically has an input impedance of tens of thousands of ohms or more in parallel with the CTs burden resistor (which can reduce the CTs output voltage very slightly). As long as the series resistance of the wire between the voltage mode CT and the meter is less than hundreds of ohms, the accuracy of the CT will be little affected. Voltage mode CT can drive a much longer wire run using smaller gauge wire than a traditional current mode CT.

Video: Why can I not connect via USB to my M580 with Unity Pro?

Unity Pro is unable to establish a USB connection with a Momentum and an M580.

          Product Line:

          Unity Pro

There is a common USB connection issue with the M580 where it will not allow you to connect because it does not see the controller. Not all users will experience this issue and there is a work around. If you are not able to connect, first and foremost, you must make sure that you have a healthy USB connection and that you have the PLC USB drivers installed. If all that checks out you may need to change the IP Address of the M580's network adapter. The M580 USB driver installs an unidentified Ethernet network adaptor named SE RNDIS PSX M580 Connection that can be seen when the USB connection is made between the PC and M580.
To change the IP Address navigate to your Network Settings and you will want to look at your Network Adapters. Right-click on the M580 network adapter. Select Properties then select Internet Protocol Version 4 and select Properties again. You will want to enable the 'Use the Following IP address'. Change the IP Address to and the subnet mask to Close all windows and now you should be able to connect to your M580.

If you are using Windows 10, you might also want to make sure that you have at least driver version 3.15 IE25.

Can the Modbus port / ports on the Compact 984 be configured for RS485 mode?

No, the Compact 984 Modbus port / ports cannot be configured for RS485 mode. If this type of communications is needed, you need to use a RS232/RS485 converter that is externally powered.

Note: The Compact product line was obsoleted in 2015 and repalced by the M340.

Can the new Twido T2M I/O modules only be configured in TwidoSuite 2.20 and above?

No.In TwidoSoft, all versions will need to be configured to the old module from the pick list and the same goes for all versions of TwidoSuite less than 2.20.

Note: Twido was obsoleted in Dec. 2015 and was replaced with the M221 and SoMachine Basic. The M221 will support the TM2 I/O modules in SoMachine Basic.

Are schematics available for APC products?

I would like schematics for my APC product.

          Product Line
All products including but not limited to UPS, PDU, Cables

          All products and serial ranges.

I want to test or repair my product, or duplicate a particular product.

APC does not distribute schematic drawings of products to the public. APC schematics contain proprietary information.
Additionally, there are no user serviceable parts inside the UPS and disassembly or modification of the UPS voids all warranty agreements. Only internal APC staff and authorized service centers whose staff have undergone training for service of our products should attempt to service or repair an APC UPS. Distributing schematics of the UPS to the public would only serve untrained users to attempt to repair or to modify a product which could result in product failure or injury. For these reasons, APC chooses not to distribute schematic drawings and strongly advises against service of our products by untrained personnel.

This policy is quite common among manufacturers of power electronic equipment. We do not distribute cable assembly schematics to the public. Do not attempt to manufacture your own UPS communications cables, or purchase non-APC brand UPS cables. Doing so could void the warranty of the connected APC device. APC authorizes CoastTec (formerly Coastal Business Machines) as an out-of-warranty UPS repair center in the United States. They can be reached on the web at, or by phone at 1-410-521-1000. In other countries, please contact your local support for repair options.

For further information contact APC using any of the methods listed here:

How to change the power sign on 5.2E, 6.2E, 5.3E,6.3E trip units for Powerpact H, J and L frame breaker?

How to change the power sign on 5.2E, 6.2E, 5.3E,6.3E trip units for Powerpact H, J and L frame breaker?

          Product Line:
          Powerpact H, J and L

          5.2E, 6.2E, 5.3E,6.3E Micrologic trip units

          Power values reading negative.

The power sign can be changed through Modbus register, or with RSU software and UTA test kit STRV00910.

Modify the Power sign using the RSU software and UTA Tester STRV00910, see link for free RSU download.

By default, the Micrologic E trip unit signs as positive the powers running through the circuit breaker supplied from the top with loads connected from the underside. Circuit breakers powered from the underside must have the powers signed as negative.

In the Metering setup/Power sign window, select the power sign:
          • + The power running through the circuit breaker from top to bottom is
          counted positively.
          • - The power running through the circuit breaker from bottom to top is
          counted negatively.
The default value of the powersign is +.

          Power Flow
          Sign 3316 3315 RW — — UINT 0–1 E
          Power flow sign
0 = the active power flows from upstream (top) to downstream (bottom) (default).
1 = the active power flows from downstream (bottom) to upstream (top).
The power flow sign command (command code = 47240) configures the content of the power flow sign register.

          8000 7999 — — UINT 46240 E Command code = 46240
          8001 8000 — — UINT 12 E Number of parameters (bytes) = 12
          8002 8001 — — UINT 5121 E Destination = 5121 (0x1401)
          8003 8002 — — UINT 1 E 1
          8004 — — STRING — E Level 4 password (default value = ‘0000’ = 0x30303030)
          8006 8005 — — UINT 0–1 E
          Power flow sign
0 = the active power flows from upstream (top) to downstream (bottom)
1 = the active power flows from downstream (bottom) to upstream (top).

Change default WebX ports in ClearSCADA

This article explains how the default WebX ports can be changed for the redesigned WebX interface in ClearSCADA 2015 R1 and later versions. The default ports are set to 85 for HTTP (non-secure) and 453 for HTTPS (secure) connections. This configuration can be altered from Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

To change the default ports do the following:

          1. Launch Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager on the machine hosting ClearSCADA Server.
          2. Locate the ClearSCADA site and click on Bindings.
          3. Select the connection you would like to edit and hit the Edit button.
          4. Type the desired port number and hit OK. Make sure the new port is vacant and can be accessed by the clients. Please do not set the same ports for WebX and the Original WebX. The appropriate SSL Certificate can also be selected for the secure port (HTTPS) at this stage.
          5. Restart the ClearSCADA site by clicking on Restart located in the Manage Website section.

Keep in mind that the secure WebX port in ClearSCADA 2015 R1 is also being used by ClearSCADA Mobile if it is installed on the same machine. ClearSCADA Mobile uses port 443 by default in all ClearSCADA versions prior to 2015 R1 and in newer.
