ATO transfers when chiller load is on

Issue:
When the switchgear/switchboard has chiller loads on, this causes the system to transfer.
This happens even when there is healthy voltage present as sensed from the 27/47 relays.

Product Line:
Crompton 27/47 relay

Cause:
This is a good indication of harmonics at the customer site from the chiller loads.
The Crompton 27/47 relay is not tolerant of harmonics, and when the chillers are running this causes the Crompton relay to indicate an unhealthy voltage source, causing the system to transfer.

Resolution:
A solution could be to replace the Crompton relay with a more harmonic tolerant relay such as the Basler ES 27/47 relay, which is mounted via Din rail and is an easy replacement

What are the part numbers of slip type expansion couplings?

Slip Type Expansion Couplings are available from 16mm through to 50mm.The part numbers of slip type expansion coupling are as follows:
16mm = 251/16
20mm = 251/20 *
25mm = 251/25 *
32mm = 251/32
40mm = 251/40 *
* = only available in Grey
Where long conduit runs are likely to be exposed to wide variations in temperature, it is recommended that expansion couplings be used at each join. It is not recommended that Slip Type Expansion Couplings be used where the conduit run is exposed to the weather. Standard colour is Grey (GY).

Resolution
The iEM3000 series meters derive control power through the meter's phase voltage inputs V1, V2, V3, and Vn.  The installation guide for the iEM3000 contains wiring diagrams for different voltage systems.  The meters support the direct power Voltage (L-L) 3 x 100/173 V AC to 3 x 277/480 V AC (50/60 Hz) and the direct current measurement up to 63 A or 125 A.

What is the operating principle of a detector for XSAV type rotation control?

Advantage and preferred uses

  • XSAVxx inductive sensors for rotation control have the special feature of combining data acquisition functions and processing by a pulse comparator in a single unit, thus creating an integrated rotation control device.
  • These devices provide a good solution for monitoring slip, belt break, coupling break, overloads, etc. in the following applications: conveyor belts, bucket elevators, lifting screws, grinders, crushers, pumps, centrifugal drying machines, mixing machines, etc.


Principle

The output signal of this type of sensor is processed by a pulse comparator integrated in the device.

The frequency of the pulses Fc emitted by the moving element to be monitored is compared with the frequency Fr preset on the device.

The output switching circuit of the sensor is at closed state when Fc > Fr and open state when Fc < Fr.

XSA-V sensors are particularly suitable for underspeed detection: when the speed of the moving element to be monitored Fc falls below a preset threshold Fr following deceleration, this detection leads to opening of the device's output circuit.
