      Trend data in ION EEM v3.9 and above does not show up or is improperly offset.

      This can be caused by the timezone being set improperly for the source in the ION EEM Admin Tool. To resolve this problem, login to the ION EEM Admin Tool and go to the Source Node Hierarchies plugin. Click on the sources tab and check that timezone is set properly for the devices experiencing the issue.

      Why is my ION8600 reading zero voltage

      If there are no voltage readings on an ION8600, but other readings are available, it is likely the meter is stuck in Test Mode.
      Verify with a fluke meter that there is voltage going into the meter. If there is, connect to the meter with ION Setup and place it into Test Mode and then exit out of test mode. The voltage readings will no longer be zero.

      This error message indicates that the original install MSI file has been deleted. When a user clicks the repair feature in Windows, the operating system will look up in the registry the command line to run. The command line points to the original MSI file. The solution is to copy the original MSI (ION Enterprise.msi) file from the ION Enterprise installation disk to the location specified in the error message.

      The 2000 series keytag switches and room access card operated switches are the ideal form of energy management for hotels, motels and other locations where power can be left on unnecessarily. Inserting the keytag or card into the switch activates selected circuits to operate lighting, air-conditioning, television, radio and other appliances. Circuits to refrigerators and other equipment that needs to continually run are not connected to the switches. Removing the keytag or card automatically cuts off power to all of the circuits to significantly reduce power wastage. Several models are available in the range, including versions with neons.       Resolution:
      NLP indicates that no line power is present on the L1, L2 & L3 input terminals of the drive controller.

      Check voltage at the L1, L2 & L3 terminals.
      Check for open circuits on line contactors, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, or fuses.

      If NLP state does not change with correct voltage present on L1, L2, & L3, remove the control board and check for loose connections of ribbon cables inside the drive.
      WARNING: This step should be performed while the drive is powered down, and proper personal protective equipment should be worn. 

      For example: In an ATV71HC25N4 a customer found a loose X3 connector from the control board to the board behind and above the control board. This connector was on a ribbon cable that was about 1 inch by 1 inch. Drive ran OK after this was reseated.

      False Events When Using A SEL 2020/2030 and ION Enterprise

      Goals and Symptoms

      Summary

      SEL 2030 devices are used to communicate with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) relays. The relays only communicate with SEL proprietary protocol. The 2030 can convert this to Modbus for the use of PRODUCTS such as ION Enterprise 5.0.
      We use the name SEL 2030 but this article also applies to other modules in this product family including the SEL 2020 and SEL 2032.

      ION Enterprise 5.0 is configured to translate the Modbus data into the ION network. Within this network a Virtual ION Processor (VIP) can be used to perform logical actions based on the information obtained from the relay.

      One common action is to detect a change in state of a Boolean value. A series of VIP Setpoint modules can be configured to monitor the state of each value.  When the state changes the VIP Setpoint module records an event but can also be used to trigger an action.

      Symptoms

      The VIP Setpoint module shows repeated events without an actual change in the relay state.  This may always appear as an OFF event.

      Causes and Fixes

      Cause

      The ION Enterprise Modbus master repeatedly asks the SEL 2030 for updates.  If the SEL 2030 is providing the data directly from the port which the relay is attached to (as opposed to the port the master is attached to) then the SEL 2030 will randomly reply with Modbus exceptions. These happen when the incoming request happens at the same time as the relay is updating its information in the SEL 2030.

      These Modbus exceptions may cause a VIP Setpoint module to incorrectly register an event.

      Workaround

      There are two ways to work around this problem.

      On newer SEL 2030 devices the master port can be configured to not send exceptions when it is busy. In the port set-up configure the "BUSY_DIS" setting to "Yes" from the default "No"

      On all SEL 2030 devices you can use Memory Move commands to remap the individual relay's data into the memory used by the Modbus master.

      When using the 140 EHC202 00 High Speed Counter, how do I reset my counter value(s) to zero, or maximum value?

      Using the "Parameter" screens the module is configured for its set points,max value
      and mode of operation. To reset the count is a simple matter of sending a command
      to the first 4x register of the module's I/O map reference. Prior to doing anything you
      should be aware of the terminology involving this module.

      Reset: Turning off the output coils associated with the card. Reset has nothing to do
      with your count values being set to 0 or max value.
      Preset: This can be a hardware input or software command. Preset will set your current
      count to zero if your counting up, or to max value if your counting down.

      To Preset and Enable counters 1 and 2... Send the value 233H to the module.
      To Preset and Enable counter 1 only..... Send the value 203H
      To Preset and Enable counter 2 only......Send the value 230H

      A hardware Preset is accomplished by pulsing the Preset input terminal on the EHC 202 for counter 1
      or counter 2.



      Follow the above mentioned command with a 300H command, which is the Read Counter command.
      If you want to know what the last count was prior to Preset,send a 400H command. This command
      will buffer the last count seen by the counters just before the Preset command arrived.

      Remember, you can Preset the module with hard wired inputs to the Preset input of each counter or
      you can use the software Preset described here. It is permissible to use both methods simultaneously
      if you wish. Follow the wiring diagrams in the Quantum Hardware Reference Guide, they are accurate and
      should be relied upon for proper module operation.

      ION Enterprise v6.0 Web Reporter Report Packs will not install.

      Issue:

      The report packs are not showing up in Reporter. Just displays loading but no reports populate.

      Product Line:

      Cause:

      Reports failed to load during install. 

      Resolution:

      In order to resolve this problem, add the Windows IONUser to the administrators group and then run the Change > Modify options on the ION Enterprise installation from Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel. The Windows IONUser password is "IONisgreat!" without the quotes. In order to do this follow the steps below:
      1) Right click on My Computer and choose Manage
      2) Expand System Tools > Local Users and Groups and click on the Users folder
      3) Double click on IONUser
      4) Click the Member Of tab
      5) Click Add...
      6) Type in Administrators and click OK all the way out


      7) Now open the Windows Control Panel
      8) Open Add/Remove Programs
      9) Click on ION Enterprise
      10) Click Change


      11) Choose the Modify Option and click next


      12) Click Finish
      13) Test to see if the Web Reporter Report packs are now available

      Causes and Fixes

      There are 2 solutions to this issue.

      Solution 1:
      Uninstall SQL Server 2005 Express completely and then try to manually run the OWC11.msi file available in the Tools folder of SQL Server 2005. After this, install SQL Server 2005 Express again.

      Solution 2:
      Uninstall Office Web Components from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. After this, upgrade SQL Server 2005 Express again.

      Causes and Fixes

      In the ETL Engine open the job for editing that is having the problem. In the error messages above we can see the ETL Job Name is the name of the ETL job with the problem. On the mappings find the sources that are not mapped properly. Most likely the case is that the end name has not been assigned to 1 or more sources causing the error messages and preventing the ETL Engine from properly importing data into the ION EEM system.

      Non Zero Voltage Readings on ION6200 or Siemens Access 9200 Meters when nothing is connected to the meter's voltage inputs.

      Goals and Symptoms

      Problem:
      ION6200 or Siemens Access 9200 meters with the P24 low DC voltage power supply option will, in some cases, show readings of 1.5 - to 3.0 volts (Voltage Line to Neutral) for all phases, when nothing is connected to the voltage inputs.

      Confirming the Problem:
      If the ground cable is removed from the power supply module the line to neutral voltage reading returns to the correct reading of 0 Volts. Alternatively if you remove the Earth cable from the voltage input terminals the voltage reading returns to the correct reading of 0 Volts.

      Causes and Fixes

      Solution:
      ION6200 or Siemens Access 9200 meters with P24 low DC voltage power supplies will be shipped with ferrites that will cover and attach to the power supply cable. A document containing ferrite installation instructions will be available through the PowerLogic Website (https://www.powerlogic.com or https://www.global.powerlogic.com). All ION6200 or Siemens Access 9200 meters with P24 power supplies shipped after May 14, 2010 will include the ferrite and installation instructions. Those with previously installed ION6200 or Siemens Access 9200 meter types who experience this issue should install a ferrite using the installation instructions on the website. The ferrite information that we are using can be found below:

      The Test Demand Period cannot be reset on an ION8600 meter.

      Summary
      The sliding window demand modules in the "ION Revenue Test Framework" cannot be reset with a push-button. The "Demand Reset" button will reset the values but the period will not reset.

      Goals and Symptoms

      Symptoms

      The period of the sliding window demand modules in the ION Revenue Test Framework cannot be reset. This causes issues while testing. The period of the sliding windows are in sync with the system clock on the meter and will only reset on certain times, which means the test can only start at certain times as well. For example, if the period of the Sliding Window Demand modules are set to 15 minutes, the periods will only reset at the 00, 15, 30, and 45 minute mark.

      Make the following changes in the ION Revenue Test Framework


      • 1) Place a new pulse merge module. Pulse in 1 input should be connected to Test Dmd Rset of the Test Dmd Rset module. Pulse in 2 input should be connected to CNV1 On Pulse output of the Test Mode Rset module.

        2) Place a oneshot timer module. The sync input of this module should be linked to the Pulse Out of the Pulse Merge module which was placed in step 1.

        3) The Trigger output of the One Shot timer (placed in step 2) should be connect to the sync input of both KW sd del T and KW sd rec T

      When the meter is put into test mode, Demand Forgiveness is active. This makes it difficult to run a test on the ION8600 meter

      Goals and Symptoms

      Symptoms

      Demand Forgiveness is the time programmed to the meter during which demand (and therefore peak demand) will not be calculated in the power restoration period following a total power outage. This is designed to not penalize customers because the power-up of EQUIPMENT following a power outage usually consumes a higher than normal amount of power. However, when a meter is powered-up and put into test mode, Demand Forgiveness is active which hinders testing. The test will have to be delayed until the Demand Forgiveness period expires.

        2) Place a shortcut to the Tst Mode Invert module. The module can be found in the ION Revenue Test Framework

        4) Connect out Enbl Dmnd Delay from Dmnd Delay Enbl module to source 2 of the new AND module
        5) Connect the result output from the new AND module to source 3 of the Check for Delay module.
        6) Connect the result output from the new AND module to source 1 of the Enable Dmnd Dly module

      How to program higher resolutions for Ke values on an E5600 meter.

      Goals and Symptoms

      Ke values are limited to 0.001 to 16 range and can only be increments of 0.001. If a value such as 0.00125 is needed for the Ke value, with the current configuration, this is not possible as the next value that could be used would be 0.002.

      Causes and Fixes

      Workaround:
      Here is the procedure to allow the user to program a higher resolution for the Ke value via the front panel optical port.

      1. Using Windows Explorer, go to the ION Setup folder, then go to the sub-folder TABLES/ANSIC12/SQD5600 and open the SETUP.CFG file in that folder using Notepad.

      2. Find the [Energy Pulsing] section which should look like the following:

      3. Save the file and start ION Setup. Re-program the Ke setting with the higher resolution value and save the changes.


      Resolution:

      There is no resolution at this time, however this has been submitted for review to create a permanent fix in future firmware versions.
