Power Monitoring Expert 7.2 - After upgrade to PME 7.2 I can't run or edit my saved RepGen reports

      Issue
When editing or saving a report in Repgen you will see a “Connection failed” screen like the following:

Manually entering the "Report" login with password "rep0rter!" allows you to edit the report.  However, the next time you edit the same report, Reporter will prompt you for the same connection information.

Also, you will see an “*ERROR* Error 3704” message in Reporter when you try to run a report that had been previously saved.

You will see this issue if you upgraded to PME 7.2 from older versions of the software (e.g. SPM 7.0, SPM 7.0.1) and kept the same SQL Server instance and ION databases in place.

      Product Line
      Power Monitoring Expert 7.2.x

      Environment
      Repgen, Reporter

      Cause
The password for the “Report” login that is used to connect to SQL Server in order to retrieve data for Reporter reports has changed.  As a result, when upgrading to PME 7.2 from a previous version of the software, you will see errors when trying to edit or generate previously-saved reports

      Resolution
Change the “Report” login password in SQL Server to “rep0rter!”  This will allow all new reports generated in PME 7.2 to run properly.  You will be able to edit reports without the Connection Info dialog popping up.

If you are using reports from your previous version of the software in PME 7.2, you will also have to edit them manually to change the stored login information to “Report”/ “rep0rter!”

      • Open the report in Excel.
      • Unhide the |PRIVATE|Datasheets worksheet.
        • Excel 2003:

          • Right-click on any sheet and choose “Unhide” from the popup menu that appears.
          • Choose the |PRIVATE|Datasheets sheet and click OK.
      • Ensure the USERID and PASSWORD columns contain "Report" and "rep0rter!"
      • After making the changes, hide the sheet |PRIVATE|Datasheets again.
        • Excel 2003:
          • Select the sheet.
          • From the menu, choose Format -> Sheet -> Hide.
        • Excel 2007 / 2010:
          • Right-click on the sheet and choose “Hide” from the popup menu that appears.
      • Save and close the file.

The report can now be edited and generated without issues.

ION Enterprise 6.0 - Installing ION Enterprise to work with SQL Server 2008 R2

The current ION Enterprise 6.0 installer does not directly support installing ION Enterprise with SQL Server 2008. ION Enterprise will install, but Web Reporter and a number of other components will not function. It is possible to perform a series of manual steps that include using the provided RS2008ConfigurationWizard, and end up with a functional ION Enterprise system. Part of the procedure requires the user to download and install three Microsoft SQL Server components required by ION Enterprise. This is detailed in the attached document.
This procedure should only be attempted by those familiar and comfortable with both SQL Server and ION Enterprise. It is important to read and understand the attached document.

Note that SQL Server 2008 Express IS NOT SUPPORTED. All testing has been done using Windows Server 2008 64 bit. It is assumed that SQL Server 2008 R2 is installed on the target machine prior to installing ION Enterprise, and before running through the procedure described in the attached document.

Also note that ION Enterprise with SQL Server 2008 has not been through a formal development/test cycle, so it is possible that issues may arise that have not yet been encountered. Because of this, this configuration should not be used for critical systems.

      RS2008WRConfigurationWizard.zip

Additional Information: The supported platform for this procedure is Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit with SQL Server 2008 R2 64 bit.

December 23, 2010: The document has been updated to include the distributed database server case, and RS2008ConfigurationWizard has been updated to address the issue with ad-hoc database trimming (RESL 203738).

March 30, 2011: The document has been updated to include information about setting the Connection Manager service to manual to avoid possible communications problems after reboot.

November 23, 2011: RS2008ConfigurationWizard has been updated to include a version of the Energy Cost Report with fixes for RS 2008 (RESL206726), and a fix for the ION_SystemLog TRIM job it introduced (RESL204590). It also includes the option to delete & re-create the RS databases if they already exist (TRUE by default). The document has been updated appropriately.

How to calculate MOD1K in Modbus Device Importer

      Issue
User is looking to create a driver for 3rd party device that uses MOD 1K to store accumulated information
      Example
      Register 40100 Wh
      Register 40101 kWh
      Register 40102 MWh

      Product
      Power Monitoring Expert 7.2.x, 8.x
      StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.x

      Environment
      Modbus Device Importer (MDI)

      Cause
MDI does not natively support register type MOD 1K, MOD 10K is a supported register type

      Resolution
*Warning: Take backups of any files prior to modifying them. Ensure the backups are in a location that will not be overwritten (i.e. the Desktop).*

Solution includes a combination of scaling, multiplier and offset registers.

      1) Create a new register linked to the lowest register, set the scaling to 1000 and multiplier to -1
      - Recommend naming this register other than the desired final register name eg kWh Del 10E-3

      2) Create a second register. Set the scaling to 1000, and multiplier to -1. Add an offset register created in step 1.
      - Recommend naming this register other than the desired final register name- recommend  eg. kWh Del 10E0

      3) Create a third register. Set the offset register to the register created in step 2. Add a multiplier to give the correct desired units.
      - Name this register the desired measurement name. eg kWh del.

This process can be repeated for more than 3 registers

NetBotz 200 Temp/Humidity threshold emails do not contain values for temp/humidity

      Issue:
Temp/Humidity threshold emails do not contain values for temp/humidity

      Product Line:
      NetBotz 200

      Environment:
NetBotz 200s that are configured to send emails for temperature thresholds.

      Cause:
The NetBotz 200 can only alert the title of the alarm within the email.  The title will indicate what the alarm is.  For example, if a high temperature threshold is violated, it will send an email stating that a high temperature threshold has been violated.  The actual temperature value will not be reported via the email.

      Resolution:
This is by design. The e-mail will simply state the threshold that was breached as well as the sensor and module for which the threshold was breached. The e-mail will also contain:
      Name :
      Location :
      Contact :
      https://IP of NBRK0200

      Serial # :
      Device Ser #:
      Date:
      Time:
      Code:

Warning - MM: High temperature threshold violation for 'Sensor xxx'

What is the temperature rating of a 501ES lampholder?

The lampholders easily pass the 160 deg C temperature requirements of AS3117.
Tests have found they are suitable for continuous use at 180 deg C and over and for intermittent use at 200deg C and over.

Are StruxureWare DCE or NetBotz vulnerable to CVE-2017-7494 (Samba related vulnerability)?

      Issue:

Are StruxureWare DCE or NetBotz vulnerable to CVE-2017-7494 (Samba related vulnerability)?

      Product Line:

      • StruxureWare Data Center Expert (DCE)
      • NetBotz

      Environment:

      • StruxureWare DCE v7.X
      • NetBotz (botzware) v4.X

      Cause:

Schneider Electric has become aware of a critical vulnerability in the daemon that offers file sharing capabilities in Samba. Samba is a suite of tools that helps in the interoperability between UNIX with Microsoft Windows allowing Linux, Mac and FreeBSD users to set up and share folders on Windows computers using the server message block (SMB) protocol. Experts say the vulnerability can be exploited with just one line of code and has the potential to spread quickly. Samba versions 3.5 (released March 1, 2010) and onwards are impacted.

The vulnerability allows an attacker to open a SMB share (TCP/445), upload a shared library to the writable share, and then cause the server to load and execute it.

      CVE ID: CVE-2017-7494: https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2017-7494

      Samba Disclosure: https://www.samba.org/samba/security/CVE-2017-7494.html

      Resolution:

      • NetBotz 4.X is not vulnerable to this issue because an unaffected version of Samba is used.

      • StruxureWare DCE v7.X runs on Linux but does not export SMB shares, so it is not vulnerable.  Since the Linux OS has samba packages installed that are necessary for client services, security scanners may continue to alert on the presence of CVE-2017-7494.  The next release of DCE v7.X available later in 2017 will include the latest patched libraries.

Cyber Security is an important element of Schneider Electrics' commitment to software quality. Regular vulnerability assessment and further investigation is ongoing on other Schneider Electric platforms in addition to the above and will be detailed if discovered.

How do I get Modsoft to open up to full screen display while I try to run it under WIN 2000?

The command to get Modsoft to change window size is ALT+<ENTER>; however Modsoft is not supported under WIN 2000. Users may try running the application under it; however successful operation cannot be guaranteed. One of the common problems is Modsoft will not open up to full screen. Regrettably there is no means to resolve this issue other than to reinstall the software under a supported OS, such as WIN 95, WIN 98 or DOS.

Is the PowerLogic BCPM (Branch Circuit Power Meter) compatible with NQ and NF panels?

      Issue
Is the PowerLogic BCPM (Branch Circuit Power Meter) compatible with NQ and NF panels?

      Product Line
Power Logic Branch Circuit Power Meter (BCPM)

      Environment
      Mounting considerations and installation

      Cause
Compatibility between older BCM and newer BCPM meters in NQ, NF and NQOD panels.

      Resolution
As of April 2010 the BCPM is fully compatible with the NQ and NF panels.  The NF panels are designed for 1" spacing and the NQ panels are designed for 3/4" inch spacing. The older BCM (Branch Current Meter) is only compatible with the NQOD panels.

ION Enterprise 6.0 - Cannot run ad-hoc database trim from Database Manager if using SQL Server 2008

ION Enterprise Database Manager allows a user to Trim data from the ION_Data database on an ad-hoc basis. If Trim... is chosen from the pop-up menu, it is possible to define a date range and select one or all of the three types of logged data - Interval, Waveform and Event. However, If ION Enterprise 6.0 SP1 is installed with SQL Server 2008, this operation will fail with an error indicating that TRUNCATE_ONLY is not supporter:

      The following error occurred:
Error trimming database while truncating the transaction log
'TRUNCATE_ONLY' is not a recognized BACKUP option.

Database Manager uses PMLMSDEManager.dll to execute the TrimRecords stored procedure. This file needs to be updated so that it no longer uses the TRUNCATE_ONLY command. Versions of RS2008ConfigurationWizard.exe produced prior to December 23, 2010 will not update this file, however the most recent version of the tool will. RESL 203767 has been updated to include the most recent version of RS2008ConfigurationWizard.exe.

There is a workaround. It is possible to run the stored procedure directly in SQL Server Management Studio as shown below: The two dates are a start and end date, and the bit flags are Data/Waveform/Event respectively. In the example below, Waveform and Event data from January 1 to January 2 2010 would be deleted.

      EXEC TrimRecordsSQL'2010-1-1','2010-1-2',0,1,1

      What is the difference between an LUB12 32 & LUB120 320 Tesys U starter?

      What is the difference between an LUB12 32 & LUB120 320 Tesys U starter?
The Tesys U non reversing starter controller offers two types of power base units in its range
      LUB12 & LUB120 (0 – 12A, 5.5kw at 400V)
      LUB32 & LUB320 (0 – 32A, 15kW at 400V)

LUB12 & LUB32 power bases have gone through an evolutionary change.
Pre 2010 wk36, the base unit was coloured black\white & the contact block LU9BN11 was removable.
Post 2010 wk 36, the base unit is black, to denote power & the contact block LU9BN11 is now fixed.

LUB210 & LUB320 will always be delivered with all slots empty (removable plastic covers) which will enable the customer to select their own contact \communication arrangements. Therefore, part No.: LU9BN11 is compatible
      Note:
The LUB120 & 320 have also gone through the same colour change as previously mentioned

      Part No.: LU9BN11:
Is a contact block comprising of, 1NO (13-14) & 1NC (21-22), which indicate the state of the main poles

      Note:
Although, some customers are familiar with the model U bases with plug in units. It is worth a reminder that, the new pre wired contacts in the LUB12 & 32 arefixed & are not meant for removal.
If they are removed (with some effort) it will render the base unit inoperable & a new one will have to be purchased.

The LUB32 can be used in CAT 3 Safety applications as the contacts are mirrored and linked.

      What do fault codes 0010, 0011, 0012 & 0013 mean?

      Issue:
Inverter keeps faulting on frequency and voltage faults.

      Product Line:
      PV and GT Series

      Environment:
Grid event: The grid frequency or grid voltage are out of range.

      Cause:
      Grid event

      Resolution:
When there is a frequency or voltage issue (High or Low) that is outside of the inverters allowable range, the inverter will shutdown. This is a grid related event. The inverter will stay down until the grid issue has been resolved. The inverter will start up automatically once the grid is back to normal.
If it does not, please call 866-519-1470 (option 3 & 3) to open a new case.
