What is one way to tell if a drive or Softstarter is still under Standard warranty?

Issue:
Standard warranty for a Drive or Softstarter.

Product Line:
Altistart, Altivar

Environment:
All

Cause:
NA

Resolution:
The date of purchase indicated on the distributors invoice or receipt can be used to determine if the drive or a Softstarter is in warranty. The standard warranty is 18 months.  If no receipt or invoice is available, the date code of the drive can be used to determine if the drive is in warranty.  This date code is imbedded into the Serial number that is located on the right side label of the unit below the bar code. The first 2 digits indicate the manufacturing plant.  The next two digits indicate the last two numbers of the year it was manufactured and the next two digits indicate the week of that year.  The following numbers indicate the sequence of drive.
 example:  8B 092124041 (8B = manufacturing location, 09 = year 2009, 21 = week).  The warranty ends November of 2010 (18 months from May 2009).

Testing a Masterpact breaker, and the FFTK test kit says the breaker is different from what it is and it will not allow it to be changed

Issue:
Testing a Masterpact breaker, and the FFTK test kit says the breaker is different from what it is and it will not allow it to be changed.

Product Line:
Masterpact NT NW
Full Function Test Kit (FFTK) S33595

Resolution:
To change it, go into the trip unit menu by pressing the wrench key. Then go to Micrologic Setup, Breaker Selection, and change the Standard to Not Def. Press Meter key to exit, save settings, and continue to set up test on FFTK manually.

Issue: With Micrologic P/H trip units with firmware 2009AJ, date code 0948 or later, testing with the FFTK may have an issue if the trip unit has been set up for “ANSI” or “IEC/GB” as the standard and a breaker selection has been made. This issue can be corrected by choosing “not def” in the Breaker Selection menu. Once “not def” is saved, then the testing with the FFTK may begin with the user inputting the breaker type, standard, and interrupt rating on the FFTK touch screen.

When the testing is done, you can setup the breaker selection in the trip unit as they were prior to testing.

Please see attached document which contains photos of how to make the setup changes on the trip unit.

Are the circuit breakers used in the Powerpact 4 panelboards adjustable.

The circuit breakers currently used in the Powerpact 4 panelboards have either adjustable or  fixed settings, see list below for further information.

Single pole
Single pole circuit breakers have fixed settings

Two pole
Two pole circuit breakers have fixed settings

Three or Four pole up to 160A*
Three or four pole circuit breakers up to 160A have adjustable thermal overload settings (Ir) adjustable between 70 - 100% of their nominal rating (In)

Three or Four pole 200 & 250A*
Three or four pole circuit breakers rated at 200 & 250A have adjustable thermal overload settings (Ir) adjustable between 70 - 100% of their nominal rating (In) and adjustable magnetic settings adjustable between 5 to 10 x In.

Three or four pole 400 to 630A
These circuit breakers are fitted with electronic trip units and have adjustable overload settings between 40 - 100% of their nominal rating (In) and adjustable short circuit settings adjustable between 1.5 - 10 of the resultant overload setting.

Three or four pole 800 to 1600A
These circuit breakers are fitted with electronic trip units and have adjustable overload settings between 40 - 100% of their nominal rating (In) and adjustable short circuit settings adjustable between 1.5 - 10 of the resultant overload setting. They also have adjustable time delays for overload and short circuits.

Note:
* The current range of MGP... thermal magnetic circuit breakers are based on the NSX MCCB. MGP..... circuit breakers produced before around the middle of 2009 were based on the NS range of MCCB's which had adjustable thermal overload settings of 80 - 100% of their nominal rating (In).
