      Product Line:

      NetBotz Upgrade (all versions)

      Windows Firewall.

The built in Firewall that comes standard with Microsoft Windows XP may interfere with upgrading NetBotz products from the NetBotz Central Console or the Advanced View. If a null pointer exception occurs during an upgrade, exit the application and turn off the firewall temporarily.

The following explains how to turn off the Windows XP firewall.

      Windows XP firewall (Without SP2)

      1. Click Start, 2. Control Panel, 3. Double click Network Connections, 4. Right-click the desired connection, 5. Properties, 6. Advanced tab, 7. Under Internet Connection Firewall, 8. Uncheck or check the "Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet" check box.

Windows XP firewall (With SP2) Note: In Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), Windows Firewall is turned on by default. To turn off is much simpler to disable.

      1. Click Start 2. Control Panel 3. Windows Firewall 4. Select "Off (not recommended)"

IMPORTANT:Remember to turn the Windows firewall back on after you complete your NetBotz upgrade."

Please note newer versions of Windows OS and other firewalls may have similar issues.
