ISO 17025 Certification

Customer is unable to find certification for Schneider Electric’s calibration equipment used for the PowerLogic ION meters

PowerLogic and ION meters' calibration equipment is not currently certified per ISO 17025 standards. The reason for this is that the calibration houses (e.g. 3rd party) are required to meet ISO 17025 certification standards as well. Not all the calibration houses used for PowerLogic and ION meters meet these requirements; Schneider Electric, therefore, is not able to attain ISO 17025 certification on PowerLogic and ION meters.

The ION meters are shipped from the factory with a certificate of compliance and calibration. In the event that this certificate was lost or never recieved, a copy can be obtained by providing the meter's serial number and sending the request to technical support.

The 8.3 file name format is not supported by default on these two operating systems but the wizard needs it enabled in order to run correctly.

For information on Windows 8.3 file naming convention please see Windows File and Directory Names


To enable this format on Windows Storage Server 2008 and Windows Small Business Server 2008, follow these steps:

1. Type this at the command prompt with administrator privileges.

     C:\>fsutil behavior set disable8dot3 0

2. Reboot Windows

3. Confirm the enabling of the 8.3 file name format by typing this and pressing Enter:

    C:\>fsutil behavior query disable8dot3
    The following should then display.     disable8dot3 = 0

(If it states"" = 1"", then 8.3 is still not enabled, please repeat).

PME 9.0 Fails at Verify Databases Step

During the install for PME 9.0 user gets error at Verify Databases step. This is shown in the picture below. 

The Installation Log contains the following error:

PME 9.0

Add the windows user running the installer to the Schneider Electric -> Power Monitoring Expert folder with full control. This can be done by right clicking on the folder and going to Properties -> security. 

Updated: Why is my Network Management Card losing SNMPv3 communication?


My Network Management Card (NMC) is losing SNMPv3 connectivity after a certain amount of time but other communication protocols (web, FTP, SSH, Telnet, SNMPv1, etc) continue to work properly.

An issue has been identified with the SNMPv3 task on Network Management Card 1 and 2 based devices. SNMPv3 communication will be lost after approximately 49 days and 17 hours. The NMC will continue to run normally, with the exception of the SNMP process, which will not run.


Update (July, 2016): Specific to NMC1 products, this issue had previously been fixed for AOS 3.7.3 and higher. The maximum SNMPv3 uptime allowed was modfied from 49.7 days to 497 days. At the 497 uptime day mark, assuming the management uptime had reached this point, the Network Management Card interface would have had to be rebooted though the web, CLI, or SNMPv1 interfaces in order to regain SNMPv3 communication. NMC2 AOS v5.1.X also contained a fix to avoid an SNMPv3 communication loss completely.

With NMC1 AOS v3.9.2 and higher, this issue has been fully resolved and the 497 uptime limitation has been lifted and SNMPv3 communication through StruxureWare Data Center Expert or any third party SNMPv3 NMS will not be affected after 497 days of uptime. This AOS (or newer) will be released for different firmware applications in the coming months which are available at https://www.apc.com/tt/en/tools/download/. Certain applications are available immediately, such as Rack PDU.

How to configure the SRC 5,6,8 & 10 KVA UPS Models External Battery Packs using the LCD display

Batteries need to  be manually added to the UPS in order for the unit to properly calculate runtime


Procedure for Configuring the number of battery strings through the display interface or LCD menus:

1. Press the Enter key to select the main menu.

2. Scroll down to configuration.

3. Press the enter key to select configuration. 

4. Scroll down to battery setup by number of battery pack. 

5. Enter the correct number of attached battery packs.

In order to setup the external battery packs, please key in as (Ah of battery) x (total number of batteries).

Example 1:   If there are 16pcs of 5Ah battery in series (for 5kVA), the total Ah number is 5Ahx16pcs=80Ah.
Example 2:   If there are 16 pcs of 100 AH batteries in series(for 5 KVA), the total AH number is 100 AH x 16 pcs=1600 AH
Example 3:   If there are 2 strings of 16pcs of 5Ah battery in series (for 5kVA), the total Ah number is 5Ahx16pcsx2 strings=160Ah.
The 80Ah inside the table is the default setting for 5kVA/6kVA (1 EXB: 16pcs of 5Ah battery)
The default setting for 8kVA is 140Ah (1 EXB: 20pcs of 7Ah battery)
The default setting for 10kVA is 180Ah (1 EXB: 20pcs of 9Ah battery).
If “Ext total battery Ah” is set as 0, it means there is no external battery connected.
