Resolution:
Take the value provided by the application and convert it to binary by using a calculate like the one provided by Windows.  If using the Windows calculator, you may have to change the calculator to scientific or Programmer mode to accomplish this conversion.

The most common cause of this error is selecting the wrong "Controller Type" during configuration.

Resolution
When configuring a Quantum PLC with ProWORX NxT, you must select the correct executive firmware for the "Controller Type". Below is the Change Controller Type "Pick List". If the Quantum PLC has version 2.XX firmware, you need to select Rev 2 for the PLC Type. "Quantum 113/3 is for version 1.XX firmware" and "Quantum 113/3 REV 2" is for version 2.XX firmware.

How to do scaling in LXM32?

To set scaling, you need to set scale numerator and denominator in SoMove or these parameters can be written through CAN.
By default, as you can see in the screenshot from SoMove, 1 revolution corresponds to 16384 (resolution of encoder) user units. So, for example, if one revolution correspond to 100 mm, than ScalePOSdenom has to be set to 100. Similar for velocity and ramp (acceleration).

How to change the display settings of energy units from MWh to kWh in ME Meter.

Depending on the ME meter version, meter will automatically select the appropriate units and therefore it is not possible to modify the energy units. From 40/5 to 150/5 CT ratio, the energy unit display is KWh and from 200/5 to 6000/5 CT ratio, the energy unit display is MWh.

CT Setting:
To change the CT settings hold down the button on the Front Face of the ME Meter for more than 5 sec when on the CT Rating display. After approximately 5 sec the display will start blinking, now enter the CT setting. Once again hold the button till the display stop flashing, to ensure that the entry is saved.

How to convert floating point registers to an interger value in the Enercept Meter and Energy Meter?

Follow the steps below in the example to convert register values to an integer:


  • In this example register 287 has a value of 17395 and register 288 has a value of -22528. Register 287 is the upper 16 bit number and 288 is the lower 16 bit number.

    1) Convert 17395 and 22528 to binary numbers (add a 0 to the front of the number to make it 16 bits) and combine them (drop the negative sign from register 288). This will give you the following binary number:

     

    0 100001111110011 0 101100000000000

     

    2) Drop the 0 to the far left giving you 1000011111100110101100000000000

    3) Take the 8 bits on the far left and convert them to a decimal number:

    10000111 | 11100110101100000000000

    10000111 = 135

     

    4) Subtract 127 from the value that you got in step 3:

    135 - 127 = 8

     

    5) Take the part of the binary number that was not used in step 3

Control voltage and logic input max voltages allowed.

Resolution:
The S6 version was primarily designed for the European market and has  control voltage range (for terminals CL1 and CL2) of 187V AC to 264.5V AC (220 -15% to 230 +15%)).
The softstart then generates a 24VDC power supply (24VDC +/- 6 V) that is limited to 42 mA.  This supply can be measured between terminals +24 and COM on the control terminal strip and should be present when the 220V power is supplied to the softstart.


The S6U was designed and qualified for the standard NEMA range, which is: 103.5 ... 126.5V AC and is primarily used in the US.
The allowed voltage on ATS22•••S6U control terminals (input CL1 and CL2) is from the range: 93.5V ... 126.5V, 50/60 Hz (110 -15% to 115 +10%)



 

Information Controller v 1.x Upgrade Procedure

"APC Information Controller Firmware Upgrade Procedure

1. Download the psx1_3_5.tar file from APC web site to a folder on the local client.

2. Log on to the Information Controller using the administrative Username and Password values, and click Connect.

3. Select Network in the navigation bar.

4. Select the FTP tab to make sure that FTP Access is enabled.

5. Use FTP to import the psx1_3_5.tar file to the Information Controller from the client.

a. At a command prompt, use the cd command to navigate to the directory that contains the psx1_3_5.tar file.
b. Type ftp and the IP address used to log on to the Information Controller in step 2, and press ENTER.
c. At the User prompt, type the Information Controller’s FTP username (the default is lowercase apc)and press ENTER
d. At the Password prompt, type the Information Controller’s FTP password (the default is lowercase apc) and press ENTER.
e. At the ftp> prompt, type bin (or binary) and press ENTER.
f. At the next ftp> prompt, type send psx1_3_5.tar and press ENTER.
g. At the next ftp> prompt, type bye and press ENTER to exit FTP.

6. Select ""System"" in the navigation bar of the Information Controller.

7. Select the ""Tools"" tab and click ""Update Software"". Highlight the 1.3.5 upgrade file and click the ""update"" button to install the psx1_3_5.tar update at the Information Controller.

8. After the Information Controller reboots at the end of the update, log back on to the Information Controller to confirm the update was successful by clicking on ""Help"" and then the ""About"" tab."

Can the AR8125 NetShelter AV Sliding Shelf be installed into an SX cabinet?

Will the AR8125 NetShelter AV Sliding Shelf Fit Into SX Cabinets?
 
 
Q) Is the AR8125 compatible to the SX series of cabinets?
 
A) Yes, but extra hardware is needed.
In the NetShelter Compatibility Chart the AR8125 is listed as only being compatible with the AV series Cabinets: AR3810, AR3812 and AR3814. With additional hardware the AR8125 can be mounted into an SX cabinet, or any cabinet with square hole vertical mounting rails. 
 
 
Q) How can I mount the AR8125 into an SX cabinet?
 
A) Use #10-32 caged nuts: AR8005.
The AR8125 was originally designed for use with the NetShelter AV cabinets which come with #10-32 tapped rails.
The hardware that ships with AR8125 includes #10-32 screws (black in color). These attach the AR8125’s sliding and stationary rails to the NetShelter AV’s #10-32 tapped vertical mounting rails.
To mount the AR8125 to a NetShelter SX with square holed rails requires the use of #10-32 caged nuts. Our sku AR8005 is a pack of (36) #10-32 caged nuts.
If you try to use the M6 caged nuts and screws which ship with the NetShelter SX cabinets it won’t work. The holes in the AR8125’s horizontal mounting rails are 5.5mm o.d. and the M6 screw is 6mm o.d. The M6 screw is too wide to fit through the holes in the horizontal mounting rail.
 
Note: the AR8125 is a shallow shelf with a maximum depth of 25.25”. If deeper equipment is mounting into the cabinet you may want to mount the rear of this shelf onto a recessed rail kit. This will reserve the NetShelter SX’s rear vertical mounting rails for use with the deeper mounting equipment.

PowerSCADA Expert - Maximum number of IODevices of MODNET type

Customer request:
To integrate in the PowerSCADA Expert (PSE) project 400 sets of Ethernet devices which support Modbus TCP protocol.
The question was if all the devices can be integrated to one PSE Server, and the SCADA system is redundant.
In the legacy software version, one IOServer could only have one TCP/IP Board and 255 Ports can be created on that type of Board.
Can we integrate all the devices into one PSE Server? If yes, then how to configure the communication including IO Server, Board, Port and IODevice?

Resolution:
The maximum limit in PowerSCADA software is of 16383 IODevices per project and 4095 simultaneous multiple protocols.
BOARD types have to be unique per IOServer.
You may find reference of the word "Channel" in various documentation resources.
To be clear, PORT = Channel.
PORT number limits are hardcoded into each communication driver.
The TCPIP driver (TCPIP.DLL) supports 512 PORTS per board since DLL version 2.4.4.0, thus MODNET driver (MODNET.DLL) supports 512 PORTS (channels) since driver version 2.6.21.0.

These limits are theoretical limits, in reality there are Kernel Queues that introduce another limitation.
[Kernel]Queue has a max of 5000 (which is also default value), but some drivers like Modnet consume more queues per channel than others.
Modnet consumes 13 Kernel Queues per PORT.
As a result, a 512 hardcoded limit for Modnet PORTs will be downgraded to 300-350 because of these queues.
So, consider the limit at 350 MODNET PORTS per BOARD (per IOServer).
If you use ModbusTCP/RTU Gateways, then you can have thousands of IODevices on the same IOServer, just because for each of the 350 PORTS you could have several different IODevices, with different Addresses (UnitID).
For example: 1 Gateway to collect 5 SEPAMs means: 5 IODevices (5 different IODevice Addresses), 1 PORT (the same PORT that uses Special Options for Gateway's IP address), 1 BOARD (TCPIP).

To overcome the 350 PORTS limit, more IOServers are needed.

Further, another reduction should be made, imposed by the recommended number of IODevices per IOServer.
In the same project, the same Cluster, the same Network Address, the PowerSCADA team recommendation (rule) is: either 50000 tags or 250 IODevices per IOServer. Whichever comes first.
To create another IOServer in the same Cluster and the same Network Address, simply add another IOServer but specify a different Port (this is the Port from the IO Server dialog window).
Doing so, you will need to define different Ports for the extra IOServers: default is 2082, so you may add any unused TCP port: 3082 for second IOServer, 4082 for third IOServer and so on.

Cause

Configuration can vary based on the RADIUS server being used. Below is a successful configuration taken from a FreeRADIUS server. Though this configuration worked through testing, APC by Schneider Electric cannot guarantee that this configuration will work on your RADIUS server. Resolution

The three files that need to be edited in order for FreeRADIUS to authenticate properly are:

1) clients.conf
2) dictionary
3) users file

Below are examples of entries that should be entered into each file.

Once these entries are made, you should be able to access your APC product via RADIUS authentication.

In some cases, you do need to specify Vendor Specific Attributes. For example, APC part number AP7900 (Switched Rack PDU) uses the same login accounts as listed in the previous example. However, the AP7900 also allows specific outlets to have their own separate accounts/logins. Therefore, you must create additional entries in the event that a user has a login for specific outlets.
