The help documentation explains in detail what each setting is. How these settings could be tweaked is unique to each system. Specifically, the following page in the help talks specifically about how GeoSCADA considers an outstation failed:
Navigation: Driver Reference > Advanced Drivers Guide > Configuring a Channel > Defining Scan Parameter Settings for a Channel.
Interrogating the below settings may also prove useful when performing an audit on your system:
(1) Disable Independent Connections - this would allow for round robin polling
Navigation: Driver Reference > Driver's Guide > Configure a Channel's Connection Properties > Configure a Channel's Network Connection Properties
(2) Polling regimes staggered - to reduce the likelihood of the network been bombarded with information at one time
Navigation: Driver Reference > DNP3 Driver > Configuring a DNP3 Outstation > Specify When GeoSCADA Expert Performs Class Polls
(3) For very noisy sites, increase the ignore events available to perhaps 5M
Navigation: Driver Reference > DNP3 Driver > Configuring a DNP3 Outstation > Specify When GeoSCADA Expert Performs Class Polls
(4) Potentially increase the events notification delay
Navigation: Driver Reference > DNP3 Driver > Configuring a DNP3 Slave Outstation > Configure the Number of Events Required to Generate an Unsolicited Message
Interrogating the IO and Events list, will allow you to see if the network is in fact congested over the course of a day.
To note, the above is a guide only. We highly recommend consulting the Help Documentation available and, should you need clarification, contact your Schneider Electric services' representative for further assistance on how to best proceed if you suspect you need to perform an audit on your system.
