This is mainly due to something setting it off ie. Dust partials, dust mites, bugs, dirt. To avoid this it is recommended to clean your s/a every month, the best way to do this is by getting a long nose vacuum and vacuum the outside of the alarm trying to get in all the gaps. *NOTE DO NOT OPEN ALARM AND DO THIS AS IT MAY DAMAGE THE ALARM. Spray bug repellent on a cloth and wipe the ceiling around the smoke alarm to act as a future bug deterrent. Test the smoke alarm after cleaning.
