When the user clicks on the System Manager Setup Utility link in the System tab of the SMS Web Client, he encounters the error "The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000022). Click OK to terminate."
This may likely occur after a patch or hotfix has been applied. When a .DLL or .OCX file is replaced, the new file's access rights may not be set properly for the executable to access it. The new file should be registered if possible and a minimum of read access should be granted for Users to access the file. In the case where this error was seen, the file in question was C:\Program Files\Common Files\Square D Shared\CsLog.dll.
To resolve the issue:
1. Open a Command Prompt window (Start > Run, type cmd and click OK).
2. Type: CACLS "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Square D Shared\*.DLL" /E /G BUILTIN\Users:R
3. Press Enter. The user should see a list of files processed.
4. The System Manager Setup Utility link in the web client should now work properly.
