The M340 does not have to be powered down but the SD memory card has to be stopped first before removing. The SD card is stopped by toggling system bit 65 (%S65) from off (0) to on (1). When the card is stopped, the green LED indicator below the memory card door will turn off. Now the SD card can be removed. If this LED is flashing it indicates that the card is being accessed. Also there is a SD memory card symbol in the status bar (lower right corner) which indicates yellow when there is a mismatch between PLC memory and SD card. A red symbol indicates wrong or missing SD card.
