Clipsal Partner Life Is On competition shines a light on the work of electricians

    Thursday, May 14, 2015

Lindsay Booth, an electrician from Queensland has been announced the winner of the inaugural Clipsal Partner Life Is On competition for his work during the recent Queensland floods.

Lindsay was awarded $1,000 for his generous aid, working free of charge to re-install lighting and repair damaged cables for people without power due to flood damage.

Clipsal by Schneider Electric received more than 400 entries for the Partner Life Is On competition which encouraged individuals to nominate their favourite ‘sparky’ for going the extra mile.

“The aim of the competition was to highlight some of the important work that electricians do in their local community, above and beyond the trade they represent,” said Vice President Clipsal & Schneider Electric Partner business, David Gardner.

“We had a number of entries that detailed the hard and inspirational work that electricians do in the community and Lindsay is a great example of an electrician who has had a direct impact on local residents.”

Stephen Sinn from Queensland said he had nominated Lindsay because his work had an enormous impact on people suffering through a challenging time.

“Lindsay was overwhelmingly generous and gave weeks of unpaid labour to flood victims who had already struggled through so much. Lindsay was also highly experienced so the work that was undertaken was to a high standard despite the conditions he was working in.”

Lindsay was surprised to have won the award but grateful for the acknowledgement.

“I saw the devastation that the floods had on the local community and I was fortunate enough to be skilled in an area where I could help,” he said.

“When people lose their possessions they can often lose hope and restoring power to their homes was a simple way I could show them some support.”

The Partner Life Is On competition ran from 9th February] to 1st March 2015 to encourage electricians across the country to enter.

“Electricians play a crucial role, not just in the electrical industry but in the broader community so it was great to be able to raise awareness of some of the aspiring work that goes on every day,” said David.
