All aboard with Clipsal
When it comes to bonding with customers, no company quite does it like Clipsal Australia. The SA based electrical manufacturer has chartered a luxury ocean liner, the Norwegian Star to cruise along the Mexican Riviera for nine days.
On board will be 2200 of the company’s most loyal electrical contractor customers and their partners. Why? To celebrate 90 years of the Clipsal brand as well as the 15th Anniversary of Club Clipsal International, arguably one of the most successful loyalty programmes in the Australian trades industry and cornerstone of the success of the Clipsal brand.
“Club Clipsal is unique” says, Damien Cummins, Executive General Manager of Clipsal Australia.
“The club is run by a committee made up of our customers and facilitated by Clipsal. The only prerequisites for membership are that members must be loyal Clipsal users and run a reputable contracting business. The events bring members and their wives together from all over Australia. Business relationships are forged. Ideas are exchanged. The electrical industry becomes stronger because we create an environment to discuss the issues affecting us. We currently have more than 4000 members.
“Our event hospitality is also famous and very much part of our culture. Our club events vary from activities involving the Clipsal 500 to fun events such as 80s theme nights. But Club milestones are special to us and call for big celebrations.”
The Mexican Riviera event, scheduled from April 16 –25, has been five years in the planning and kicks off with an exclusive welcoming party in Santa Monica, Los Angeles. This is followed by the nine day cruise. Meals are catered for and guests will call in to Mexico’s best coastal landmarks. On board entertainment will include Australian music legends Mondo Rock and mystery international superstars. Host for the entire cruise is Getaway Reporter Jules Lund.
Clipsal’s customers have paid a subsidised fare to get on board the ship varying from $5000 to $11 000 Australian. Customers get more value than what they could normally arrange for themselves in the form of business sessions, entertainment, additional destinations to visit and gifts.
“When you do the maths, this event is a $10 million exercise as well as a huge logistical undertaking. But the memories and relationships it creates are well worth it.”
