Clipsal Australia announced today that Gepps Cross will be the site of its new world class head office and manufacturing operation.
The 90 200 sqm site (land area) is presently occupied by the Coles State Office and Distribution Centre at 33-37 Port Wakefield Road. The current lease is coming to a close in early 2008 and will be vacated to make way for a $35M transformation into Clipsal Australia’s new state of the art five star energy rated facility.
In May of this year Clipsal Australia announced the decision to bring together all of its metropolitan operations into a single open plan facility in Adelaide. The main criteria was to find a suitable site within 10kms of its existing location in Bowden, to minimise the impact on employees.
The new Gepps Cross location is situated 8.5kms away from the present site, with the existing structures built in 1985 and comprising of both commercial offices and warehousing. The buildings are well suited to the major refurbishment and extensions required, and Clipsal is planning to add approx 5000 sqm of floor space to accommodate extra office space, a new training centre and canteen. In all, the new Clipsal Australia will occupy an impressive total floor area of almost 30 000 sqm. The new office and manufacturing facility will be available in August 2008, however the company’s move will occur in stages and should be completed early 2009.

“The site we have chosen meets and exceeds all the criteria we require to create a new international centre of excellence for both staff and customers,” said Erik Scholz, Executive General Manager of Clipsal Australia.
“The new facility will be a better environment to maximize our manufacturing and logistical efficiencies. It will also be a better experience for the thousands of customers who visit for training each year and see our latest innovations and developments.”
The Gepps Cross site will also expand on the shared services direction of Clipsal’s parent company, Schneider Electric. Schneider Electric and other key brands within the group will share the new facility, consolidating their current Adelaide operations.
The site will be leased from owners Goodman International Ltd, for a period of up to 25 years. Plans, visuals and a 1.6 x 1.6m scale model of the new Clipsal facility will be on display at the current Bowden head office and can be seen on the company’s website, clipsal.com and intranet site.
