Clipsal Australia’s, Mathew Smith has won the Australian Apprenticeships Trainee of the Year Award, at the 2006 SA Training Awards held on Friday, September 1.
Mathew, a Team Leader in the Metals Department at the company’s Bowden factory, was nominated for this prestigious award in the student category due to his outstanding efforts in both the Frontline Management course he participated in during 2006 and his Leadership training program at Clipsal Australia.
More than 750 guests attended the gala event at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Mathew accepted the award plus a $2500 career development grant and trophy, proudly supported by his partner, parents and senior management from Clipsal.
Mathew will now represent South Australia at the 2006 Australian Training Awards to be presented in Adelaide on November 16.

Matthew also plays for SANFL team South Adelaide. His winning form carried through the following day where he was listed amongst the team’s best players during the Panther’s 75 point win over West Adelaide, giving his team an opportunity to play finals football for the first time in 15 years.
Clipsal Australia wishes Mathew well for the upcoming national awards and the Panther’s 2006 finals campaign.
