Clipsal Strathalbyn commenced manufacturing in mid 1995. Described as a centre of excellence, the Strathalbyn factory, with its self contained Maintenance Department, and Warehouse, occupies some 3250 square metres and employs more than 240 staff.
The Strathalbyn factory, which is accredited to ISO9001, specialises in manufacturing products for Clipsal Electrical Accessories, namely the 2000 Series (Australia's biggest selling range of switches), power outlets and accessories, and the C2000 Series, which is a variation on the 2000 Series. Strathalbyn has also begun the manufacture of the Slimline Product range in the single and double power points. Using state-of-the-art Arburg injection-moulding machines, day-to-day products are produced 24 hours a day, five days a week, while customised products or 'specials' are manufactured on demand. Ninety-nine per cent of products manufactured at Strathalbyn are for the domestic market. In 2003 a semi-automated assembly line was introduced at Clipsal Strathalbyn with the aim of producing over 4 million 2000 Series twin power outlets per annum. Such speed and efficiency will ensure Clipsal Australia’s competitiveness in the marketplace for many years to come.
