Clipsal’s moulded consumer switchboards have always had a reputation for meeting the needs of electrical contractors. And this new plastic consumer series is no exception.
Already surpassing expectations, the Clipsal Slipstream is considered the most advanced range of moulded consumer switchboards available in terms of application, wiring speed, accessory mounting, and ease of installation. No wonder Clipsal is the market leader.
The new features were designed to significantly benefit the contractor, but these switchboards look pretty good on the wall too! The new smooth edge styling blends with existing surroundings and comes standard with a tinted transparent door ensuring an excellent match with any décor.
Only high quality, fully insulated engineering plastics are used. And all mouldings are both impact and UV resistant. In addition, an insulated back plate is standard for metal panel mounting and caps are provided to cover mounting screws.
Surface Mounted
The flexible design of these switchboards makes every installation you do look top class. There are heaps of features to make the job easy and fast!
Straight away you’ll notice they’ve been specially designed for speedy wiring - simply mount the back plate to the wall, drop wiring down the wall and straight into the switchboard or through the back knockouts provided.
More Room to Move
To make things a whole lot easier, we’ve increased the amount of wiring room to give you more space than ever before.
Outstanding cable management is provided to ensure cables do not bow out the sides of the switchboard. With so much room, it’s never been easier to terminate cables.
Surface mounted Slipstream switchboards are available in both 12, 18 and, in the future, 24 pole models that are easily expanded to 14, 20 and 26 pole respectively by removing the two knockouts on either side.
Fast installation!
Of course, the best thing about Slipstream switchboards is how fast you can install them. Simply cut the cover to suit cable entry and attach the cover with handy 3-turn fixing screws.
Then all you have to do is label the switchboard with the stickers provided or handwrite information directly onto the etched section.
For your convenience, top hinging is standard on all switchboards but the door can be right-hand or left-hand hinged on the 12 module version.

Flush mounted
Closely resembling the surface mounted versions and packed full of great features, these switchboards make installation a snap! Best of all, they are flush with the wall to make the job look even better.
Smooth Running
The back box is moulded in plastic and is easily fixed in place to support wall members through each side of the switchboard. What’s more, if you’re fixing it to an internal hollow wall, you can now do it a lot easier using the unique integral wall anchors.
Special safety feature option: For shallow internal hollow walls, an earthed metal plate is available for areas where there is a risk of accidentally drilling into the rear of the switchboard.

Once the back box is fixed in place, cables enter the enclosure through easily removed angled knockouts at the top and bottom of the enclosure.

Fits easy, every time!
Second fixing is achieved easily by fitting the fully adjustable DIN rail to suit wall thickness. A very handy adjustment of up to 15mm can be achieved to make every job look spot on.
And, when you’re done, simply terminate the cables and attach the fascia with handy 3-turn fixing screws. As with the surface mounted range, top hinging is standard but the door can be left-hand or right-hand hinged on the 12 module version.
Finally, you can use the stickers provided to label the switchboard or simply handwrite directly onto the etched section.
